The 1st line sounds right, but most grocery stores don’t allow you to use a Visa GC to buy a Visa GC. Also, Visa GCs doesn’t give 5% off grocery store (or any) purchases, so wouldn’t you just be exchanging $100 GCs and lose another $5.95 fee?

Do you know if Amex will track it as a grocery purchase or gift card?
My Amex gives 3% back on groceries.
