Thanks for providing some additional details. My web search found reports that the $5 purchase is required if you sign up for the email club (online?), but not when yo sign up using the app.

Where did you find these additional terms? If it was what you saw in the app after signing up through the app, I’ll move this thread to Hot Deals.

Many reviews say the burgers are worth the $12, so a $5 purchase doesn’t seem like a dealbreaker, especially if you eat there anyway or live close to one.

My comment about the quality of their burgers was a general one directed at no one in particular since a broader audience in HD will see the post now and question the value of a ''free" burger if they have to spend $5 and dine in. I’ve always thought it would be fun to experience a grand opening… it’s cool that you get to do so an an invited guest.
