Correct me if I’m wrong, but it looks like they give you 100% of the value from the gift card you exchange towards the Target gift card:

I thought that you got 100% of the remaining balance too. However, I just found found this in-store demonstration video clearly showing that, just like their electronics recycling program, they make you an offer that’s less than the remaining balance/value and you can decide whether to take it or leave it. If your only cash out options are selling it eBay or one of those sites like Gift Card Granny, you’d get less than face value too after seller fees and a discount big enough to entice someone to buy your GC.

I believe the payment within 30 days lingo refers only to electronic “Products” trade-in because it takes time to evaluate their physical and operating condition. The video demonstrates immediate receipt of the Target GC in-store once they verify the balance and you accept their offer for GC you are trading in.

That’s the same as saying “100% of the value.”

That video shows a $25 Best Buy GC exchanged for a $16.50 Target GC. If that’s the case, you can do much better elsewhere.

Agreed, but it doesn’t guarantee that exact rate this year. Rates may also vary by location, CG brand, card type/age, etc. If there was one set exchange rate for all GC trade–ins, it would be stated on the offer page.

ETA: I forgot to mention increasing the value of your Target GC by using on hot deals/clearance items

Their system had a problem so the guy told me they couldn’t exchange the gift card. In any case, you get 50% of the value of your gift card. What a scam!!! And this program is always running.

T&C is there, it’s clear that it is NOT Target running this program. And no one should be naive enough to think you can bring in a $25 Gap card and walk out w/ a $25 Target Card.

LOL, imagine you got 10 of us ‘deal’ types to all converge on one store each with 5 GC’s with 47 cents on them? LOL
