@niniss said in BIC Gelocity pens Free After rebate up to $16-- via mail in submission ends 9/7:
@mistercheap yes, my gift cards are from $40 paper rebates and like i said i never had problem using them and were counted as normal spending until July 13. The gc i used on july 13 has the credit from a return, but i can’t be certain if that card was given to me by the store or was originally from one of the rebates because physically they are identical. Also, i vaguely remember i asked them to put the credit into my existing gc (still had balance) instead of giving me another new card to carry. As far as calling the rewards department (which i did) it’s a total waste of time. Because they insisted both giftcards and rewards certificates had always been excluded from qualified purchases. I spoke to 2 reps and both said the same thing, that only cash, debit card and credit card purchases are counted as qualified purchase.
This may very well be your issue. once the store issued a ‘credit’ back onto the gift card, it may have changed how the system recognized it.
As for telling them apart, I highly suggest writing on them w/a Sharpie so you can keep track. ie, if you return something at the store and you get a merchandise credit, write on it 'MC $15.55" as an example for a $15.55 return on a mdse. credit. You can add other return amounts to a merchandise credit, but I’d never put a return amount back on the gift card for the reasons outlined.
I’d also try calling their executive offices to get your issue straightened out (sort of like office of the president w/Staples) I think OD’s headquarters are down in Florida.
GOOD LUCK.

@mistercheap that is what i thought until july 13. So what’s the store credit look like? Exactly like the store gc? Cuz what i have and used is just the ordinary OD gc. I got them all from last year’s mail in rebate , except for one from online order return in store. But physically its identical to the regular OD store giftcard.
If for the ream paper ‘rebate’ of $40, those were a GIFT CARD and I have indeed used those towards ‘real’ spend’.
There have been some rebates where a ‘merchandise card’ was offered, so I’m not sure exactly what rebate you are referring to.
Did you look in your purchase history to see what ‘qualified spend’ was linked to that purchase? If you used an OD GC vs a merchandise credit, I’d contact the rewards center to get it straightened out. Honestly, I’ve never had a problem, but I have used all my up as of earlier in 2019 so can not offer a recent testimonial.

RE: 25% Off Your Budget Rent A Car Booking AC @ RetailMeNot.com, Exp 12-31-2019
Folks, if you’ve never used autoslash.com, I highly recommend it.
they do all the legwork finding the best codes/deals at ALL majors given the parameters you give them (ie, what credit cards, loyalty programs, etc you have).
You can compare what they find for you vs. any given deal like the above OP.

@niniss said in BIC Gelocity pens Free After rebate up to $16-- via mail in submission ends 9/7:
Mister C or Mister V – Are you aware that OD gift card is treated the same as OD reward certificate, that is, doesn’t earn rewards or counted for $10 regular purchase for ink recycling purpose? I had always thought that OD giftcards are treated same as cash or cc payment methods (and always worked so for me before). But my most recent purchase ( july 13) at the store using OD gc didn’t earn reard or qualify me for the ink recycling. I thought maybe OD just changed their policy so i called the customer service to confirm, but the rep told me OD gc payment has always been disqualified for rewards or meeting ink recycling requirements (which i know was not true prior to July). I’m puzzled and don’t know what’s going on with OD.
@niniss sorry, your information is not correct. a ‘real’ Office Depot Gift Card (versus a merchandise credit or rewards) is treated as cash/cc equiv. where ink recycle is concerned. It does indeed count.

Buy >$10 worth @ OfficeDepot.
Recycle 10 empty ink cartridges.
Get $20 rewards next month.since the rebate limit is TWO and can be submitted at different times.
if you haven’t hit the $10 yet for July, buy a pack for $10+ now, repeat in August. that way you’re covered for two months recycle.
