edit: Hold that thought…this appears to deliver a SIM card for which the minutes are tied.
other boards are saying that it comes with a separate card that you can just add to your account. I have a friend who ordered and is waiting for it to arrive, so will know more then.
If this doesn’t end up working out, I’m eyeballing the J3 that was posted three days ago. My kid’s phone runs out of service on the 3rd.

@ArthurPeale I will tell you what happened to me. I plugged in my well liked LG fiesta into a car charger on the way to Easter brunch. By the time we got there, my phone was gone, the charger failed and bricked my phone. Since I take a lot of pics with the phone and do a lot of apps that require pics of receipts, I bought the Samsung J7 Crown and service package from Tracfone’s ebay store because the cameras on the new LG phones were inferior. Got the phone, loaded all my apps. Did an online transfer of my old phone (when my phone bricked, I switched back service to a Rebel 2 I still had laying around). Next day, my Rebel had no service and neither did the Samsung. Spend all weekend and many hours on the phone and chat trying to get service on the Samsung. I liked the phone, but there is an issue with Tracfone and Samsung. Nothing worked. Returned the phone back to tracfone. I was not all that impressed with the Samsung’s camera anyway, after paying quite a bit more for it.
Got an unlocked Moto x4 off amazon. So far so good. It was a great price for a few days for prime members.I’m not sure I would recommend any Samsung phone for Tracfone. It seems from the reviews, you either get one that works or one that will never work.

Interesting. Both my boys have the J7, and they like theirs. I’m basically looking for cheap service, and $80 for a year is a steal. $50 is better (if that would work) still waiting to hear about that.

Well my friend got her $50 package from ebay. Came with a SIM card (verizon) and a separate PIN card. She didn’t have any trouble adding it to her current account. Unfortunately, she lost her service (phone and data) for some reason. She got it resolved rather quickly. I believe she put the new SIM card in her phone and transferred service to it. She is not that tech savvy, so who knows what happened.

Even with no separate confirmation, I think I’m going to bite the bullet. I know enough tricks to transfer service around so that hopefully this will work.

I can confirm! I bit the bullet, and you definitely get a 1 year, 1200/1200/ 3G card, plus a BYOP SIM, for $50. I just added it to my kid’s phone. That’s half off!

I accidentally purchased the wrong phone for my area.
I bought it for the year of service that’s bundled with it, and then realized that it’s a TMobile phone, not Verizon like my current phone.
Normally I would have just transferred my service to the new phone, and then back to my regular phone. But I’m afraid that what’ll happen is that they’ll swap my phone number out, since the number will have to switch carriers. This happened a few years back, which is why I have the number that I have now, and I’d had the old number for a few years.
Any advice to stop that from happening, or am I just stuck with this phone?

I have over 15000 minutes and 3Gb of data on my tracfone and my airtime is about to expire and I can’t find any “trick” to just extend the time.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

For a while they had a great deal on a 1 year card for $39 and change, it’s now $49 and change, which is probably your best option.

one time purchase
Right under “Benefits Below”, you will see an option for extra service days. $49 for 365 days
Click Add, it goes to your cart along with the $15 minutes card
Go to Order Details, same page, right above “Benefits Below”.
click trash can next to the $15 card.
now all you have is the $49 365 day service in cart.

This is the best deal for 1 year of service. I bought it and immediately put the SIM back into my Moto x. It’s a decent phone, although only 16 gb and 8.1 android. If you want just the service, buy this, activate, and swap SIMs.

Best you are going to get right now is a bundle deal with a new phone on ebay. Tracfone has a Lg Rebel and service for $50. Activate then switch. QVC had a waitlisted one and the ones on HSN are really expensive at this particular time.
