Any good deals on a one year card with minutes? My normal channel seems to have “evaporated”.
Best you are going to get right now is a bundle deal with a new phone on ebay. Tracfone has a Lg Rebel and service for $50. Activate then switch. QVC had a waitlisted one and the ones on HSN are really expensive at this particular time.
Ah, nuts; I let my service slide and I’ve got two days before it expires. Mea culpa. Guess I’ll just have to bite the bullet and get a card.

You can always get a month card and then get a bundle. That’s what I had to do when I pushed the limit waiting for a deal.

15% cashback from ebates today for HSN. They still have the Moto G for $119, plus any new customer coupons you can find.
-
HSN has the LG Journey (L322DL) 32GB 5.45" HD+ Tracfone Smartphone with 1500 Minutes/Texts/MB LTE Data for 1 Year for $49.99 plus free shipping. Use new customer code HSN2021 to take off $20 ($29.99).
-
Tracfone on Ebay has a 25% off coupon. Great deal on the Moto G Power with 1 year service for $90 ish. Also works on some of the cheaper phones. Expires 6/27/21, limit 1 per user.
-
IDK if this is a deal or not but as part of their Birthday Celebration, TCB is giving back $10 on a purchase of $25+ from select merchants including HSN. HSN is currently giving 20% cash back via TCB. So the Samsung Galaxy A10e 5.83" 32GB Tracfone w/1500 Minutes/Texts/Data 769-344 which is $69.99 would be $45.99 after $10 and 20% cash back. $20 new customer discount from HSN (code: HSN2021) would make it $25.99 if one is a new customer.
-
So what do y’all think about Verizon now owning Tracfone? Think the deals will dry out?

I tried to get 3 of the Samsung A10E on one transaction. Kept coming up with an error, each time.
Finally figured that I had to split into three separate transactions. No idea why. Pain in the butt.

it’s been nearly a year since I had to add service to one of my family’s phones.
My old method was to add a device, swap the service to the device, then swap it back (assuming the family member was happy with their existing phone.)
I’ve been doing it that way for years.
I went to add service to my kid’s phone with this method, and the website is completely different. A complete overhaul.
Okay, fine. I attempt to add the device.
It wants to send me a code - I have a choice, to my email, or to his phone. I choose “email” and…no code.
I’d go with his phone except he’s unavailable ATM and I won’t be able to hear back in a timely manner.
I guess my question is, after all of that, with all of these changes, is this still a possible method to add service ?

Recent changes to the Tracfone website have made some tasks much easier - this is not one of them. I finally gave up and just started using the new phone.

New phone on HSN has a 1 year, unlimited talk & text plan w/ 24g data included. I wish this was the new norm. I only had one Samsung phone and I sent it back after a few days of not being able to activate correctly.
Anybody have any comments?

Hi Betabounder,
Our friends over at TCT are looking for testers to pilot their newest phone, an Android smartphone running Android 13.
If you currently own a smartphone on the Tracfone network and are curious about testing a new device, this is a great opportunity to join!
To apply, you’ll need a separate account for use in the TCT community. Your Betabound login information will not work. The team at Betabound is not running this test - it’s being managed by TCT.

Although only 1/3 as much data as the Samsung Galaxy A53 you posted about, I see 8 different Tracfone bundles listed on HSN with unlimited talk and text, plus 8GB of data. You may get your wish yet… there’s no way they can stay competitive with 1,500 MB of data per year. Even low level tech users are increasingly online more, including in-store shopping apps, GPS, checking news headlines, a backup for when their internet is out, etc. I don;t think 8GB would sway me but 24GB catches my attention.

Qvc has several moto deals going on. They are much cheaper than their sister site hsn. New qvc customers can get $20 off $40 which works on the phones. This is the one I bought, although my friend just got the cheaper power II.

I’ve screwed this up more than once… If I get a phone that says “with one year of service/1,500 minutes/1,500 texts/1.5GB data” do I have a year in which to use the 1500 minutes and when does the clock start ticking? TYVM.

Yes, the 1500, 1500 and 1.5 are good for one year after activation. You have 1 year to activate the phone after you buy it. If you keep service after the one year, the minutes, etc do roll over. I run out of data, but the minutes and texts keep piling on each year.
-
@briarycliffs What’s data? Does that mean internet? I have a HSN Moto that I use with public wifi and Verizon internet. If there’s no public or Verizon available where I am then I just don’t access the Internet. I didn’t realize that I had to activate within a year and lost the free minutes.

Yes, data is internet. I only turn it on to use Ibotta or another app when I’m in the store. Sometimes the free wifi doesn’t work and I need to check an app. Most people blow through 3 or 4 gigs a month, so 1.5 gig for the year is very minimal use. It’s also very useful when the electricity goes out at the house and I’m stuck with just the tracfone.

That is a great price, especially if you use the new customer coupon. I love the phone. I don’t use the stylus, but it doesn’t bother me that it’s there. Granted, I can only get 5g in the big city and it’s spotty there. But so far, I like it.
-
I don’t think the G’s matter. I don’t have a major city within 200 miles would just be getting it for deals that require texting or to check iBotta when there’s no free wifi. I’m currently using a Moto e5 from this thread. I will use it until the battery dies. The Moto G Play 4G is $65.98 but I like the blue medallion on the 5G. Is it worth the $7 difference? Any other reason to go for the 5G other than the color?
Also, before I screw up again; how long do I have to activate it-- 6 mo?

Do not get the moto g play over the moto stylus. The stylus has 4x the storage, 2x the memory, a better camera 5g, and it’s faster. Also, the moto play charges s&h so not really cheaper.
You have 60 days to activate the bundle or you lose the minutes/texts/data that comes with it. Also, ignore the low ratings from people who don’t know how to use a phone or don’t know what a TracFone is for. These aren’t for heavy or even normal data users that like to stream music or videos.

@briarycliffs HELP It keeps wanting me to select Easy Pay. How do I make just one payment?
eta:
NVM, I found the EDIT button. Sneaky of them to try to get me to pay more, lol.
Went through MP where there’s currently a bonus. TCB is only 1% on electronics.
$57.45 with tax. When does the 60 day clock start counting down, from date of purchase?
-
@my4mainecoons I believe the clock starts today. I would activate before the return window is up (have no clue what it is). It’s always possible to get a lemon.
-
@briarycliffs but then I have a year in which to use the minutes, right? I’m now getting TracFone cards at Rite Aid. No deadline on activating those, right?
I read the reviews. The bad ones were from people who didn’t know how to do things. I didn’t worry about the bad reviews because I know that any problem will be because of me, not because of the device.
-
@my4mainecoons The service is good for one year once activated. The minutes/texts/data actually don’t expire as long as you have service. I have way too many minutes & texts that keep rolling over. I do run out of data though and have to refill once or twice a year.
-
@briarycliffs So texts aren’t data? I’ve never texted…
-
@my4mainecoons said in Current Tracfone Deals / Discussion thread:

no, they aren’t. Data is internet usage on your phone, browsing websites, app use, etc. Sending pictures in texts may fall under data, but just typed messages don’t fall under data.

I’m trying to use up my RA gc so I’ve bought a few TracFone cards. Is that a dumb thing to do?
What are they for? Will they become unusable if I don’t activate them?- 500MB data, 500 minutes, 500 texts; 30 day plan $15
- Unlimited Talk & Text 30-day plan $15
- Unlimited Talk & Text plus 3GB Carryover Data at high speed, 30 day plan $25
There was a card just for calls but I didn’t get that one since I don’t call anyone.

You can’t use any of those with a phone with a one year service or it will switch you to a monthly plan (more $$$). You can wait until after the one year service is gone (they may have to activated within x amount of days idk) or use them on a second phone, or sell them. There are a few you can add to your yearly plan, such as 1 gb data.
-
@briarycliffs GTK that they would nullify my free year. I’ve been getting them in case I use up my free 1500 minutes or for after the year ends. Is that reasonable?
-

A quick Google search shows you have 1 year to use them. If you use up your minutes in a few months and try to use the card, the yearly service would disappear and then you would have to add a service plan every month.
If you are talking about the brand new phone you just bought, I don’t think you should use them as it would negate the 1 year plan it came with. I would sell them, trade them, or use them on a second phone.
I’m not an expert so you might have to call. The first one might be ok to add on and extend the year another month. I’m almost positive that the unlimited cards would take away the free year of service.
-
@briarycliffs Thanks. I’ll call. I’ve lost a lot trying to use TracFone.😔

Moto G 5g is $79.98 at QVC. Still a decent phone for the price.
-
@briarycliffs The other one is still $73.
https://www.qvc.com/tracfone-moto-g-stylus-5g-smartphone-1500-talktextdata.product.E315229.html?TZ=ESTI got it 4 months ago and recently opened it because I need activate the phone service before 6 months, I think. My review: nice camera and better memory than the Moto I’m using but for my purposes its too heavy. I don’t like having to unlock it and there are too many reminders, messages, bells & whistles that I can’t seem to disable.

You can disable the screen lock under settings then security, not like that’s a good idea though. Just play in the settings, most things can be turned off or at least silent. The fingerprint lock is nice and easy, unless you have wet hands.
