For what it’s worth, these 40 lb bags of Morton’s salt can always be had for under $5 at Sam’s Club. I know a membership is required…
$4.7x if I remember correctly.

Like any other change, it’s got its plusses and minuses. I like the update, but it definitely takes a while to get used the the add-ons that you used to use that are no longer compatible. Takes even longer to find new substitutes.
And gestures are no longer available in ‘Firefox’ pages for some reason or another. That’s probably the biggest gripe I have. Other than that, I’m moving forward with it. Have it installed on three machines so far…
No, they can’t use the same cable.
You say your parents have Dish TV already… so what they have is a satellite dish on their roof (or wherever) and the coax cables run from that dish into the house (from what I can tell they usually just drill right through the wall into the room).
Any chance the house was originally wired with coax in the walls? If so, you can use those cables for Comcast as they aren’t used by Dish. If you don’t have any coax in the house at all (aside from what is used by Dish) then your only choice is to have something installed.
I certainly wouldn’t have Comcast do it as I don’t think they do a good job with anything and they’re too expensive, but that’s just my opinion. Perhaps you could convince them to run a cable for you for free as part of the installation? That’s the only way I use Comcast for this. Otherwise I do it myself or find a local handyman to do it for you. You should only need one cable run, as the only thing it’s needed for is to bring the signal to the modem. After that it’s all CAT networking cable or wireless, not coax.
Awesome, thanks! Glad I saved all of those codes, got $10… Unless I missed something, this is by far the best redemption they’ve had since shutting down the previous program.
Hi mom…
I know the guys in the old Technology forum discussed the fact that you can still ‘upgrade’ to Windows 10 for free, but of course you’re not really following the spirit or the letter of the EULA by doing so. They implied that Windows 7 would upgrade to Windows 10 and authenticate even now after the ‘free upgrade’ promotion has been over for some time.
I assume what you’re seeing is right in line with what the guys discussed some months ago. It will activate but technically speaking you shouldn’t really have a Windows 10 license. Whether or not Microsoft ever does anything about it is another story. Although I’m somewhat surprised to hear that the machine with a clean install activated without any input on your part… That doesn’t make any sense to me. Perhaps I’m misunderstanding…
Hopefully some of the other regulars will make their way over here to the new site, I bet they could let you know for sure what’s going on.
Too funny. I did a science project 30 years ago for just that - how weight distribution affects the speed of a car. Used the Pinewood Derby track just like you.
If memory serves me correctly, we just used a stopwatch so the results were certainly not perfect.
Good luck! Thanks for the good memory…
Big thank you to everyone involved in getting this up and running!
