For those who haven’t already read this email from the Sacramento Bee:
Dear Rewards member,
As a current Rewards member, we would like to thank you for your continued participation. Although many of you have enjoyed the program and won great prizes over the years, we are announcing the elimination of the Rewards program effective December 18, 2019.
Beginning November 20, 2019, you will no longer be able to earn points on the Rewards site. You can still redeem any remaining points for giveaways and prizes until December 18, 2019. All prizes will be awarded by December 20, 2019, and sent to you.
We will continue to find opportunities to reward our subscribers with other contests and giveaways in the months ahead.
As a reminder, we provide many different ways to engage with The Sacramento Bee — on our website, on mobile apps, newsletters, and on social media sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. These digital platforms are accessible wherever you go and whenever you want.
I don’t generally spend money to play Swago unless it yields a big discount. I was planning on submitting the 2nd row (65 SB + 5 spins) or 1st column (50 SB + 10 spins). However, I was in Kroger yesterday and found that the Oreo candy bars were $0.89 but rang up at $0.59 each with store card. So, I used the $0.60 off 2 in-store deal ($0.58 for 2 OOP), and submitted the perimeter for 275 SB + 25 spins. Totally worth it IMHO.
@mrvietnam You can’t use points online on grocery items anymore, but you can use them in-store on grocery items. Clearance is no problem. You can no longer use bonus points (i.e., large amounts of points earned from various promotions, as opposed to the base points earned from 1% of spend) at Hometown and Outlet stores.
Thanks so much. That information was very helpful. Today I plan to go out and get some Disney Cars for my 2 year old that are on clearance at K-mart and use my newly earned points.
@ohsheet Lowe’s has Preen 2-cu ft Mulch Plus Weed Control on sale for $2.50 near me. I ordered several bags of the brown along with some other yard supplies totaling about $52 yesterday. Picked it up today. take me to www lowes com survey

Btw, I linked in through RetailMeNot, which promised me $20 back on a $50+ order (Monday only special). Whoo-hoo, just heard from them that it’s happening! I wasn’t sure if paying with a discounted Lowe’s gift card would mess that up…
It is the best store to get great offers in 2020
I live in Texas. The weather here is very cold, I use a lot of sweaters and caps because it is impossible to walk without a coat and boots. I think that warming global is the cause of all these changes. I watch the news every day and I feel scared about the temperature and their damage, people are dying. It is terrible and our president should something do to reduce this damage. But no, he breaks all treaties to protect the environment, and the only search to benefit.
In Mike Pence’s world, women would be bare foot and pregnant. There would be no work place issues.
I wonder how many employers are now weighing a potential #metoo issue when interviewing candidates? (They’re not going to express that of course.) Do I drop a lone woman into that team of 10 male coders, or do I cover my ass and pick the equally capable man?
@pricelessprice I just got an OBC a couple months ago. You have to find the secret link and it is good for $50k in spending at 5%, after you first qualify by having $6500 in spending at 0.5% for the non bonused categories or 1% for the bonused ones. Unfortunately I got it right as the PO MO shut down.
****I took your advice very seriously and opted to sell my TRU gc on the Bay.
Had 6 $25 gc. Listed 2 sets of 3 ($75 ea) for $66 ea. Most listings gave 10% discount, ie $22.50 for $25 gc. It was worth $1.50 to ship 3 at once vs. 3 separately, ie $66 vs. $67.50
I copied a listing where seller posted “gift cards will be shipped 2 business days after payment to avoid fraudulent charges”.
I photographed the back sides of the cards showing silver on the PINS had not been removed.
I photocopied receipts showing cards had been activated and enclosed copy w/ the cards.
I created shipping label immediately so qualified for TRS discount, but chose mailing date 2 days later. I offered refund if cards were returned with PIN’s still hidden and funds present.
I also really lucked out. One buyer bought both sets a few hours after I listed.
I checked him out. He had >3000 positive feedback. He’d bought a lot of TRU gc from other sellers and they’d all left him positive FB. He sells high priced Lego sets.
Raise was offering $18 for $25 gc plus I would have paid to ship cards to an online seller.
After shipping, fees and 10% TRS discount I made $18.75/card but I have the money and +FB.
@my4mainecoons … no refunds. scammers have machines that put that silver strip on the back. so somebody might get the cards info. return them … wait for it to sell to somebody else … drain the card.
Better safe than sorry
I see I got my extra $10 in SYWR points, along with a couple of nice Freecash offers at Sears
($15 on bedding, bath or small kitchen appliance purchase of $15 or more, $15 on sporting goods purchase of $20 or more.)
It’s a mystery to me just how long they can keep this up!
Sooner or later, they have to lose surface tension and just go under…
This was moved a little prematurely to expired threads. The deal is still live for a few more hours on the West coast, but I can see on the East coast it’s expired already and you happen to be on the East coast.
@MrVietnam yes I was trying to clean up the drug forum some, a lot of thread clutter in general (not this post) but it was expired about 730pm pt, so I don’t think too much damage was caused since most had finished up the deals for the week ending 5/19.
@ed243 yeah, we’re also generous tippers because our kids used to work their tail off in restaurants so we know how overworked they are. They did this since high school and college. I have a lot of respect and awe for people who do this kind of work and are able to maintain good grades!
