RE: PSA: U.S. Postal Service seeks hike in price of first-class mail stamps to 82 cents in Julyposted in Hot Deals
@mrvietnam said in PSA: U.S. Postal Service seeks hike in price of first-class mail stamps to 82 cents in July:
Can the USPS really tell if postage stamps are fake? I bought a ton of stamps at Office Depot with rewards. One time I mailed a package covered with forever stamps and the clerk asked me where I got all those stamps. I said “Office Depot” and that was the end of it. I am glad he didn’t require proof because I didn’t keep my receipts.
Does the USPS check for fake stamps?
Yes, the U.S. Postal Service (USPS) can and does detect counterfeit stamps, primarily through automated scanning technology that checks for specific ultraviolet (UV) light-sensitive phosphors. The Postal Inspection Service uses these methods to identify fake stamps and counterfeit package labels during mail processing.
How to tell if forever stamps are fake?
In general, some things to look out for include blurry or fuzzy text and design details, differences in color, die cuts that aren’t quite right, and more.

@yoregano Please make sure its USPS stamps are real! There are a lot of stamps sold that are illegal, sold for up to 50%. The biggest discount that the stamps are discounted from USPS, are in the neighborhood of 10%! Otherwise they are fake, and the USPS does not get anything from the illegal stamps!
Yeah, I’m pretty sure they are legit. I don’t remember exactly where I got them, might have been ebay. Like I said, it was three or four years ago, whatever the case, USPS hasn’t “returned to sender” anything so far!
What happens if you mail a letter with a fake stamp?
So what happens if you use a counterfeit stamp when you mail your next letter? It is a crime, and it’s possible you could be prosecuted. The letter you mail will be treated as abandoned mail, so the postmaster has the discretion to open it or destroy it.

RE: Wendy’s is giving away free Frostys and fries today (4/7/26 - one day only) in honor of March Madness ‘dunk’ dayposted in Expired Deals
I’m just back from the restaurant. Luckily I have a Wendy’s supet close to home (5 minute walk). . I took my two sons and got three orders. The regular price of the small french fries is $2.69 in my area and the small Frosty is $3.49 for a total of $6.18 before tax if you had to pay for it.
Wendy’s fries are actually pretty good. Got to go. Off to another Wendy’s…

@mrvietnam said in Effective May 1, 2026 Sam’s Cub membership fees increasing to $60 a year:
Effective May 1, 2026, membership prices will change from $50/year to $60/year for Club members, and from $110/year to $120/year for Plus members. Plus members will benefit from an increased 2% Sam’s Cash™ rewards cap, from $500 to $750 per year.
It will be just five dollars cheaper than the $65 per year cost for a Costco Gold Star membership.
assuming Costco doesn’t raise their’s too.
True, but since they just raised their fees already about a year and a half ago, it’s highly doubtful they’re going to raise them anytime soon… This is probably Sam’s Club’s response to Costco having raised their fees in 2024.
Costco typically raises membership fees every 5 to 6 years, with the most recent increase taking effect on September 1, 2024. This marked the first increase in seven years (since 2017), raising the basic Gold Star fee by $5 (to $65) and Executive memberships by $10 (to $130).
Since Sam’s Club really doesn’t offer free membership deals anymore or money maker member membership, deals, probably the best membership deal you can look for is 50% off for $30 a year.
