If you have either a system backup or a restore point prior to Friday, I would consider using that to return to a working state.

RE: No sound on my PC
@phat200 I would trying adding a sound card. A basic one is $25 or less and a breeze to install. Even better if you know where you can get one pulled from another PC. You might have to disable the onboard sound card in the BIOS.

One thing I want to do is change the OS from Win7 Pro 64 bit (current) w/ Virtual WinXP to 32 bit w/ no Virtual Machine.
In case you aren’t aware, with a 32-bit OS, only ~4Gb of installed RAM will be accessible to the system. Anything above that will not be seen by Windows.

RE: Need Help with Specs for Buying W7 Desktop
@my4mainecoons I would absolutely have at least 8 GB of RAM. If all you plan to do with this machine is internet, that should be sufficient (although more is always better, assuming the system board supports it).
Regarding your browsing speed, what browser do you use, and have you tried different ones on your Windows 10 PC?

RE: Need Help with Specs for Buying W7 Desktop
@my4mainecoons Is price a major concern? Also, I assume you’re aware of the potential security risks with a Windows 7 OS?

RE: SLOOOOW Windows 10 laptop
Saying a device is slow is too general to be helpful. Please be more specific. Is it slow opening websites? Is it slow booting up? Is it slow opening up programs? Recommendations will differ, depending on your answers.

RE: Looking for recommendation for LMS (Learning Management System)
My employer uses Relias for what you’re looking for. We’ve used it for a number of years and haven’t really had any complaints about it. I’m not an administrator so I have no behind-the-interface knowledge of it, but from what I see as a user, it hits all of your bullet points (although I’m not sure about #9). We’re a non-profit, so I’d wager that it’s not too expensive.

RE: What's the easiest program for remote desktop access?
I’d suggest TeamViewer. I’ve used it to access my home PC from work, so it can be set to automatically accept connections (with proper authentication, of course). The free version should suffice for your needs. You can always switch to LogMeIn if you need to.
I used LogMeIn when it was free, and I prefer it, but what I was using it for didn’t justify paying for it.

RE: Kaspersky - Free version
@phat200 I’m pretty sure that means that the free version doesn’t include a VPN client, unlike the paid version. There should be no reason that it won’t work if you’re using VPN.
