It sounds like a unique hybrid between contests/sweepstakes and GPT, but the GPT crowd would not be happy about their points not having a known value (or no value if they lost). So, it sounds like this thread is in the right forum. If we do get a GPT forum, you are in for a world of goodies my friend. It’s definetly a big genre and some sites are much better than others, but that’s a story for another day.
I hope that your BeeBuzz group feels at home here and decides to stay. Remember that we had very little notice to get this up an running and to open it to the members (we’re not even a week old). There is a lot of tweeking, coding, and programming to do to get it just the way we’ve been used to and/or want it (it took FW many years to get their site the way it is). What do you all think about continuing our activities with a different media outlet that still participates in Triton trivia? The main moderator of the national trivia thread on Fatwallet started a Facebook group shortly after the FW shutdown was announced. A member of that group recently lamented the discontinuation of Triton trivia by the last of his local media outlets. The former FW moderator suggested that he sign up with a radio station that still does offer the trivia! She said that the one she uses is not in her state, but they don’t care where she lives. I suppose as long as a person has an account with only ONE of those other stations (not trying to have 50 different accounts in order to gain more points and thus more entries) and forgets about any local prizes, this could be a way for us to continue our activities. Anyone interested in giving it a shot? I signed up at http://club.b95.com/main.aspx (mobile = http://club.b95.com/m/MobileLogin.aspx) and have earned some points already (just to test it out). Or were most of you playing for movie passes and other local prizes?

Thank you so much! I’m not sure what we should do. Our newspaper is dropping Triton trivia as of 12/31 and has created its own separate rewards program. Some of us on this thread would like to continue our community. So it might become a blend of the national Triton/ClearChannel stuff (which users would earn through a different media outlet still using that trivia program) and info relating to our local newspaper’s rewards program. Or maybe we could post only the SacBee Rewards stuff on this thread, and have a link in the OP to the thread where the national stuff is discussed, with a link to at least one media outlet still offering the Triton/ClearChannel program. We probably at least should change the name to “Sacramento Bee Loyalty Club (SacBee Rewards fka BeeBuzzPoints)” (I haven’t checked to see whether that’s something I can do myself).

I have looked at various newspaper subscriptions, no luck. Most you have to be a member (paid) or at least within their zip code range. I have also looked at the listing of members on morethantrivia.com Mostly radio stations and TV. I tried your mobile link you provided. Just took me to their site. No special 5k videos to click on. Just the normal ones. Perhaps you have a link to the 13 video links? I know it’s a lot of work, but a Plan B once the old Bee site goes away. Just a thought and as always, welcome to ideas and suggestions from others. Any ideas @fivetalents ?

I wish I could be of more help, but I don’t do these activities myself. Maybe it would be helpful for one of you to post a brief explanation of your (former) program, the recent changes, and a summary of what you’re trying to accomplish going forward in the national Clear Channel thread… along with a request that they help by posting any tips/feedback in this thread. Some in that group are likely to have knowledge of other outlets or opportunities, even if they don’t use them themselves.

Thank for the suggestion. I’ll try to cobble together something over the next several days, unless someone else does so first (I’d do it sooner but haven’t time to think about the wording as carefully as is needed due to additional work hours).

Someone did already do this in a Facebook group and the group moderator (former main mod in the national trivia thread on FW) suggested just picking another active media outlet. But folks on that complementary thread on PhW likely would be willing to share other ideas.

When I tried to enter for any of the prizes yesterday on SacBee Rewards, all I got was the “processing” message for each one and a reduction in total points but NO confirmation of the entries in my “points redeemed history.” So now not only does the site not accurately credit points for activities completed, it didn’t acknowledge my spending of approximately 7,000 points. I’m waiting for a response to my e-mail inquiry about this issue.

@keespal, thanks for the tip about using Chrome instead of Firefox. I’ll try that today. The new site is so frustrating that your quitting is no surprise. The worst part of the situation is the loss of members of our community here on PhatWallet.

@VickiB, my MO has been to redeem points every day for entries in all the restaurant gift card giveaways (and Shen Yun) and up until yesterday had no problems with accurate redemption confirmation. I’ll edit this paragraph if things are back to normal today (probably not as I’m still unable to get the “games” category to award any points). [Edit 10:08 a.m. – used Chrome to enter giveaways and all was okay until the next item down the list from Shen Yun, when I again got the “processing” message, a reduction to my points total, but no confirmation in “points redeemed history.” That happened with the rest of the items I tried lower down the list. Boo. Hope the rest of you are having better luck, though likely we’re all in the same boat.]

The rewards program is supposed to be a FUN perk to being a subscriber to the Bee. The wonky site has put a huge damper on this. But I’ll keep plugging away for a little while. I really want those Shen Yun tickets, lol.

Yes, you are correct. ONTV has changed it’s format to a larger, easy-to-read size.

Unfortunately, the new edition does not have space to include a weekly ONTV word, we had to remove that option from the page to avoid any confusion.

Thanks for the info. They should replace it with a different points earning opportunity. They could still utilize content from ONTV for a Sunday code word, like they used to have a question asking for, say, the name of the celebrity featured on page 4 (Jack Maxwell of “Booze Traveler”).
