Router suggestions

Yes, I know someone is going to complain this is in the wrong group, but I don’t know where else to put it. I’m looking for suggestions for a really good dependable router for our Headquarters with a cost of no more than $70 from Staples or Office Depot/Max where I have Rewards. We’re getting 300/300 fiber optic internet connection along with a phone line with unlimited in-USA calling. Use will be from September 22 through November 2 during 3 days a week for about 8 hours a day by one person using an up-to-date laptop. At times there may be 2 to 10 people (yes, we’ll be using every safety precaution) in various rooms accessing the net with a small laptop or tablet or cell phone for a few hours. We’re looking for one that we can keep up to date and use for a few months each year for the next 4 or 5 years. Suggestions and advice, please.

@dionaea I ordered this a few days ago when it was on sale for $100. I badly need a new router since the old one has been rebooting a few times per day.

Looks like a really good one, DangeRuss, but it’s out of our price range of less than $70, and I was hoping to get one at Staples or Office Depot/Max so I can use Ink Rewards instead of Real Money. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Won’t the ISP rent one to you for $5 per month? You are likely going to have a tough time finding something “good” that fits your budget because with the increased number of people working from home, stock on the less expensive devices has been depleted.

You could try to grab [link text] https://www.officedepot.com/a/products/506395/TP-Link-80211ac-Gigabit-Wireless-Gateway/(link url) while it’s still on sale. If you can go up to $100, you get a lot more options.

We can rent the provider’s router for $6.50 a month, but there is a $50 early-cancellation fee if we return it within 2 years. Since we will only be using the router for about 1-1/2 months before ending service this year, we would end up paying $56.50 and then have to rent one again next year for a few months, pay another $50 early-cancellation fee, rinse, repeat. We figured in the long run it would be cheaper to just buy one. The suggested one looks pretty good, Zerenia, although there are some negative reviews. I’ll check with the provider tomorrow to see if it will be suitable. Thanks. Anyone have any others to suggest?

See which are in your price range and available from Staples or OD. OD price-matches with Amazon, or you can use coupons with Staples.

Mine charges $10 and its a huge ripoff considering you can get a used on on ebay for like $50.

Why $70? Didn’t you get double rewards this month? That should make it at least $80 ($120 if you still have last months). Add a $20 off $100 coupon and you got at least $100 to play with.

Looking for Staples coupon for $$$ off under $89.99 purchase. Thanks

  • 500 Club

@mistercheap said in Staples.com Online Savings Codes (current $20/100 expires 9/23):

Staples offers $20 Off Eligible Orders of $100 or More (some item exclusions apply) when you apply coupon code 78182 in cart. Shipping is free

Code released on 9/20, exp 9-23

  • 500 Club

Thanks for the coupon code! Worked perfectly. I ended up choosing an $80 router, added a couple of items I can use anyway to bring the total up to a bit over $100, and the coupon brought it right down again. 🙂
