Costco glasses , paid by costco rebate

Hi,
I purchased eye glasses and frame at Costco for $ 190. While making the payment I used the costco credit card rebate check for $ 45 and paid remaining $ 145 using credit card.
I claimed $ 190 from my insurance company , and they reimbursed $ 145. They are denying to reimburse $ 45 as it was paid as store cash. This is not correct and my appeal to the claim has been denied. How can I appeal this any higher ? Any help will be appreciated.

How can I appeal this any higher ? Any help will be appreciated.The only thing I can say is talk to a manager. Just because you paid part of it by check and part by CC shouldn’t matter.
Additionally, just a little tip - it makes zero sense to use the costco rebate check for anything other than getting cash. At the minimum you are losing the 5% or so rewards when you’re shopping, and worse you run into issues like this.
Just ask them to cash you out at the register.

About using costco rebate for the purchase, I see your point, but did not bother in this case as amount was small ($ 45), but thanks for the same nonetheless.

About using costco rebate for the purchase, I see your point, but did not bother in this case as amount was small ($ 45), but thanks for the same nonetheless.$45 is not that small. I’m not sure what else you can do - try filing an official appeal - that’s how it works with medical, you can keep appealing all the way up to some government organization. Not sure about vision, but since it’s insurance, it might work.
Also what kind of company reimburses $190 for glasses? And also they’re not in network with costco?

My (government) employer reimbursed up to $200 for glasses until a couple years ago. This was completely unrelated to any vision insurance, which was optional. I was sad to see this benefit cut.

As far as your question “Also what kind of company reimburses $190 for glasses” :-My insurance thru my employer reimburses upto $250 for prescription glasses wherever I may buy them.That’s pretty cool. Most insurances I’ve had reimburse a decent amount in network, but very little out of network.
Try explaining to insurance that it’s a gift card not a coupon. Perhaps you can rering the glasses?

I explained to them that it was a gift card, it could also would have been cash. Its just that the payment was split between the two payment methods, the total “liability” is still $ 190.
However , it all in vain, insurance simply denies to comprehend

Insurance won’t give a rattsa$$, you’re not dealing with anyone that cares.Have you tried pleading your case to Costco directly? I would hope that someone would reach out to you in this situation.

What’s Costco going to do? They’re not going to deal with an out of network insurance idiots. At best they would rering the purchase.
