While I am disappointed that the 100 was declared end of life and wouldn’t support additional updates, they did give us ample warning nearly a year ago that the 100 series wouldn’t get any more updates.
That said, the ~$30 each of my 100 and now my Obi200 that I bought almost a year ago provided huge benefits for me – basically putting my Google Voice number onto a cordless phone (providing a free 2nd line in my house), and the cost of the hardware was the only cost. I got many years out of my 100 and my Obi200 has been flawless since I got it last winter… I set it up once, and it just does it’s thing – the firmware patch for the latest Google update must have occurred automatically, as I didn’t know about it until I saw this thread earlier today.

Pulled the trigger a month ago on Amazon @ $50. (paid with Chase UR)
Filed Chase price protection claim when Newegg offered @ $35.
Just received their check for $15.
Hope our new Obi200 works for 5 years.Q. Does the Obi100 have any value in the Ebay/CL world?

You can extend the life of your obi100 by changing it over to work with the simonics google voice gateway, for $6. I did this a couple weeks ago when the obi stopped working and it has worked great.

Don’t know. Mine are still working.
I don’t think I am going to buy more than one this time since all I need is FAX capability.
I can use a spare cellphone with GV on it for calls if a “landline” is needed at all.

I believe Obi-to-Obi calling should still work since its not routed through GV.
Send your Obi100 to your friend/family in another country and you can talk for free.
