I’m looking for solar-powered string lights, but couldn’t bring myself to paying $45 for a 100-light string the other day…
Looks like Lowe’s has a 450-count, 102.5ft string of white lights for just $13…
Will have to check those out…

If you do end up trying solar-powered, I hope you have better luck than I did. Bought several strands on Amazon thinking they’d be perfect for areas of our yard with no nearby electrical outlets. Two important details I didn’t think of ahead of time: Shorter December days mean less charging time (plus here in the Northeast, we’re lucky to see sunshine one day a week). And it gets dark so early the lights come on at 4:30 pm then shut off before 9:00 pm. The type I bought are great in the summer but worthless at this time of year.

Thanks for the tips, @Dilly101! Lack of nearby electrical sources is the main catalyst for my reaching out to solar (the alternative being the creation of numerous tripping hazards with extension cords crossing over walkways), but I was hoping for at least getting halfway through the night on a daily charge…
We do get a lot of sunshine during the winter, but face the same short days that you do (4:30 pm feels like 8:30 pm); I’ve wondered if the sun reflecting off the snow might help magnify the sun’s solar power, thereby increasing each charge…?
Maybe there’s a solar electrical outlet panel out there (for plug-in lights) that has a larger capacity to store power, or has a stronger battery, and that won’t be affected by months of 0-20 degree days…and the occasional -20 degree days…
