I thought that was odd too, that’s why I bolded it, LOL.
Apparently microwaving it doesn’t release excess toxins or cause it to explode, but (over time) it does dry out the wood pulp that it is made out of, causing it to crack, chip, and break prematurely/eventually. For $5, some may decide to nuke it anyway. [I’m presuming the manufacturer doesn’t have a another reason, unique to their product, for issuing the warning.]
