Shell Rotella Synthetic Motor Oil 5 qt. L2, FAR @ Pep Boys w/in store pick up Exp. 2/20/21
-
$29.99 with $30 rebate.
It doesn’t look like I can pay online.
If I go through RMN and pay in store will I still get 15% back?
-
But is it any good?
New to me car requires synthetic. No experience.
-
Don’t know why this is targeted for gas “trucks and SUVs”.
-
@c3 It looks like this particular oil is targeted for trucks and SUVs (for whatever reason).
Which is just a marketing thing imo–you’d be fine using this oil in any car if the 5W-30 bit was acceptable.
-
This deal is also available with the 0W-20.
Shell Rotella Gas Truck Full Synthetic Engine Oil, 0W-20, 5 qt.

@kkcc Yeah I see that 0W-20 one too, but note the 1-star review about Pep Boys not honoring the rebate.
That rebate form is about as involved as any I’ve seen, and says you need to buy it in the store. Not sure if you buy online for in-store pickup qualifies you…?
-
Today was my third call to the rebate center for purchase made on BF.
I bought the allowed 2 items, filled out the form precisely and only got rebate for 1 item.
When transferred to a supervisor today, he told me that he couldn’t see any record of the previous calls even though each previous rep acknowledged those calls.
I take this as a challenge and will chase them into hell if required.
In the meantime, save all receipts, records and take a screen shot if you submit on line (I didn’t take a screen shot thinking tracking number would be all I needed)
-
It looks like the rebate processor is Parago. Surprising you’ve had issues as they’ve been very reliable in the past.
I took the Truck SUV label as marketing as well. I use 100% synthetic 0W-20 and I doubt my car reads the label on the jug.
I bring my car to the dealership and provide the oil. They deduct $20 off the price of the oil change.

How do you know if they actually put in YOUR oil?
-
@c3 Well they take $20 off the price and that’s what matters.

Weren’t they the ones handling staples rebates all those years back? And by handing, I mean mishandling.

My dealer is nice. I remember bringing in 5 qrts, but the car takes 6, and they added another qrt of their own oil without even charging me.

There were worse rebate processors. Staples rebates were fine, especially after switching to electronic submission.
