Want to change Start Menu in W11. Is Open Shell ok to download?
-
I just downloaded Windows 11 and need a classic Start menu.
Is there a way to go from a square with icons to a list with words within W11? I couldn’t find one in Start settings.
Is Open Shell safe to download?
Is there a better program to do it?

@dangeruss an older version is on CNET. Is that safer?

Github is usually pretty safe and this doesn’t give me a bad vibe.

I used whichever one is available on the Ninite.com software page. If you’re not aware, Ninite is a great, safe way to load many kinds of free software all at once. I use it every time I get a new computer or need to load something on someone else’s.
Edit: looks like Ninite has open shell.

I’ve been using Open Shell for years. I started off with Classic Shell then in 2017 the developer of that one said he had decided to stop maintaining it and proceeded to release the source code. Open Shell has been the most popular spin off I think. I’ve been happy enough all of these years to not look for anything else that would do the same thing.
