[Resolved] Remove up/down vote?
-
Is there an option to remove a up/down vote? It’s easy to click one of those by mistake. FW has “clear vote”.
-
@c3 yes, just click it a second time and it will reset.
-
@mikk1 Got it. Thanks.

@mikk1 Got it. Thanks.
If you feel that your request was addressed satisfactorily, please edit your title to put Resolved in front of it so that all the mods know you’re good. I can do it for you if you prefer, just let me know. TIA.

I am reading through some of the Support threads just to get up to date on what people have pointed out, and I have just now tried using the up/down arrows for the first time, on posts in this thread, just to see how they work –
and I’m wondering why only the names of people who up-voted a post are showing up when the area is hovered over. For example, in the post right above this one, right now it has 1 upvote from mikk1. If I vote it up, it says 2 votes, and hovering over it says mikk1 and Oppidum. However, if i vote it down, it says 0 votes, and hovering over it says mikk1 but does not mention my name. Is there a way to see the names of the down-voters on a post? Or is that deliberately shielded from readers for a reason? (Or is it just my browser that is not letting me see everything on the page – which is happening to other features of the template).

If you click on the number of votes, you will see the names of both the upvoters and down voters.

If you click directly on the number between the up and down arrows, you will see all vote. Weird, I know.
@fivetalents Great minds think alike!

“If you click directly on the number between the up and down arrows, you will see all vote.”
When I click on (or just hover over) the number between the arrows, I only see the names of the people who up-voted it, not the people who down-voted it.
(Maybe it’s due to my browser’s larger problems with this site)
For example, just for the sake of experimentation, I have just downvoted your post above this one, and I do not see any names when I hover over the “-1” number.
But when I upvoted it earlier, I saw the name “Oppidum” when I hovered over the “1” number.I am going to leave it downvoted as a “-1” so you can check and see if you are seeing the same thing.

@PywackettyCat, I hope you saw my reply to your comment. I am unable to click on “reply” within a post – the site has only let me do that a few times tonight, otherwise it won’t let me and I have to do “post quick reply” below the post I am responding to.
I have no idea why the site has flashes of time when it works a little more normally for me, and then long stretches of time when a lot of the functions don’t work (by the way, this is all with Peerblock off and DOM storage allowed).

@fivetalents, I just saw your post above P-Cat’s, with the helpful visual image.
No, that does not pop up for me. I assume that it’s in the same vein as the option box of the 3 vertical dots not showing up for me, the “reply” to a specific post not working for me, etc.

Although I haven’t commented in your support request thread, I have read it in it’s entirety and have been wondering if you’ve considered using this site on a laptop, phablet, or tablet that doesn’t have any of your personal info on it (e.g., contacts, email, passwords, etc.). That’s what I do for sites that I don’t want to use on my main devices due to security concerns. I do a factory reset or fresh install on my old devices when I upgrade and use them for that purpose. It’s not an ideal solution (e.g., you’d have to jump on your secured laptop to complete purchases, requiring you to type in the url), but you could at least enjoy using this site. We’d hate for you to not be a part of this community, and it’s a viable stop-gap solution until your tech issues are (hopefully) resolved.

@fivetalents, a “pha-blet” sounds most appropriate for pha-twallet!
Thank you for your concern and encouragement, I appreciate it.
I am minimalistic in some areas of life - tech equipment is one - I’m a late adopter and a conservative purchaser regarding most tech stuff, so I don’t have a tablet, and I don’t have a laptop that can be spared.
I do have an old phone that I wiped and use for random stuff, but the battery is shot, and the screen is not big enough for comfortable reading/typing for more than a few minutes. Even though it has no phone number, I think it requires me to have a google email address for the phone, and sucks stuff into ‘the cloud’ although I’ve disabled everything I can. …I’m not brave enough or interested enough to “root” a phone, which seems pretty complicated!
If it’s demoted to being a secondary computer, I’ll need to keep my Win 7 laptop the way it is set up, because of old programs that don’t transfer over to Win 10, wanting to keep some files apart, etc., so I can’t make it a blank slate.Alas, I may soon have to start using a new computer with Win 10, and it’ll have Edge
(although I think your site is having problems with Edge too, according to a Support thread)
(though I guess it doesn’t have a good reputation and isn’t a commonly-used browser despite the heavy/forced promotion of it),
and I expect that I will have to start using Chrome, whether I like it or not.Plus, your site might be able to fix the issues with MS browsers.
I’m just glad that your folks were able to replicate what I have been experiencing, so it’s not a user-error situation at least

I have no problem with Win7 and IE11.
