Is anyone else having a problem with Read & Win - Names & Faces (“People in the News” in Taurus742’s master list)? The answer is not accepted for me. I’ve tried every headline in that section of the newspaper and nothing works.

UPDATE: Finally accepted the answer. I must have Halloween spirits at work in my computer today :).

@karinjel, if you look below each post on the right-hand side, next to “reply” & “quote”, you’ll see a small up arrow and a small down arrow with a number between them. Clicking the up arrow gives an “up-vote” to that post and clicking the down arrow will “down-vote” the post. You’ll see the number increase or decrease accordingly.

@kateivan - That is genius! - placing the link to Taurus742’s master list at the top of page 1 (under the BeeBuzzPoints banner). Easy for everyone to find and no more scrolling and searching. What would we do without you?

HELPFUL HINTS

Sharing a few things that might be helpful to others as we work through our learning curve:

1. You can adjust your settings for the number of posts you want to see on each page. Click on your personal avatar at the top right-hand corner of the page and select “Settings”. Scroll to “Pagination” and select the number of topics & number of posts per page you want to see. More posts per page = fewer pages. Be sure to click “Save Changes” at the bottom of the page before you exit.

2. Depending on the number of posts per page you select (see #1), your page numbers may not coincide with someone else’s page numbers. For instance, if you have 20 posts per page and someone else has 15 posts per page, the 16th post will be on their page 2 but it will be on your page 1. Unlike FatWallet, the page numbers are not the same for everyone. Keep this in mind when someone references a page number because it may be different than yours.

3. You can change the way posts are arranged by using the “Sort by” button on the upper right (located just beneath the BeeBuzzPoints banner). You can choose “oldest to newest” or “newest to oldest” which will determine the order in which the posts appear on the page.

4. Depending on how you choose to arrange your page (see #3), if someone says to “scroll up” to see an earlier post, you would need to scroll down to see older posts if your page is set to display newest posts first.

5. Page numbers are displayed at the bottom of your screen. You can also use the series of small arrows at the very top of the page (located in the shaded area to the left of your avatar) to navigate from 1st page to last page or move within a page. The double “up” arrows will take you to the first post on your first page and the single arrow next to it will move up a partial page. The double “down” arrows will take you to the last post on your last page, and the single arrow next to it will move down a partial page. This makes navigating from one location to another easier than scrolling up and down.

I’m having quite a frustrating time with PhatWallet today. It takes several minutes to load. When I try to post a message or check notifications, I repeatedly lose the connection and receive this message: “Looks like your connection to PhatWallet Forums: Welcome Home to Savings was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect”. Same issue on Windows laptop and iPad. Is anyone else experiencing the same problem? Trying to post this message required multiple attempts over 15 minutes. Is there a major traffic jam with so many people moving from FW? Moderaters, help?

FYI: I received 25,000 points for “Travel - Postcards From Readers” by using the mobile link. Select MENU > Submit a Code, then enter — in the answer field.

Curiously, this question did not appear in Read & Win today so I’m not sure why it’s available in the mobile link.

I cannot flag my own posts. “Flag this post for moderation” is only an option for posts by other folks. I agree it should be available for our own posts too. FYI, I use Firefox.

Are you looking at your own post(s)? You won’t see “Flag this post for moderation” on your own posts, only posts by others…wondering if that’s the problem.

I received this in an informational email from FatWallet this morning:

“Thank you for shopping FatWallet. With sadness, we must inform you that we will be closing our site on Monday October 9th.”

So it looks like Sunday, October 8 will be the last day we can use FatWallet.

I didn’t have a Daily Video Question 1 today. Was anyone else missing it? Weird!

Welcome @taurus742. You should be able to update your list as needed. At the very end of your post you’ll see three (3) vertical dots on the right-hand side. If you click on those dots and select “Edit”, a dialogue box will appear (it will contain your original post) and you’ll be able to make any necessary changes/updates. When you’re done, use the blue “Submit” button on the right to save your changes. Using a new site will be an adjustment and I think we’ll all feel disoriented for awhile. I definitely do.

@kateivan I see that you are following me…can’t find the way to follow you.

BTW, on this site you can also choose the sort order of posts - oldest to newest or newest to oldest. Another neat feature if you’re so inclined. I always prefer newest posts at the top rather than at the bottom.

Yes, you can go to “Settings” and check the box labeled “Paginate topics and posts instead of using infinite scroll” and choose the number of posts per page. I tried that and then went to the Welcome FW refugees thread which has a lot of activity. That made a pagination area appear in the bar across the top of the page, showing the numbers and single arrows to page up and down and double arrows to zoom to the first or last post. The view seems wonky to me though. Maybe I need new glasses.

It worked! This might be the deciding factor for some people. This site works and feels very much like FragileDeal but with the pagination option it’s a little more similar to FatWallet…sort of like the best of both worlds in my opinion. I just set my “posts per page” to 3 so I could see how the pagination works and it looks great.

Looking good @kateivan! Maybe we should keep our options open for awhile and see if enough people try both sites to get a consensus. Do you know if this site will create pages like FatWallet?
