Thanks for the tip. Earnest apparently doesn’t do this, in case anyone is wondering.

If I understand the question, in order of safety
- Never provide your cc or bank info to Google
- Provide Google with a rebate or gift card number
- Use a virtual cc number
FYI, in a moment of insanity, I used Google Checkout many years ago when they were offering all sorts of discounts and never suffered any ill effects … other than a sore backside from the many times I kicked myself for trading my info for a handful of silver.
I agree. Now I have figure out how to get a virtual cc.
I think that Citibank and Discover are the only two currently offering virtual account numbers. I don’t know if it applies to all of their products, so check the terms carefully.
Bank of America has them too.

RE: Alerts for Chase Freedom Quarterly 5% Categories Activation
FYI, be careful about the last few days of the quarter. My Chase Freedom billing statement ends about the 28th, and they didn’t give me 5% on grocery purchases the last three days of June (in the new billing cycle). This quarter, I just switched to my Costco card for restaurants as of today.

Kirkland Signature Coconut Oil
Received this via email. Since this product is sold primarily (only?) at Costco, check your email address associated with your Costco membership.
This notice is for: <name>, Unique ID <number>
UNITED STATES DISTRICT COURT FOR THE CENTRAL DISTRICT OF CALIFORNIA
JAMES BOSWELL ET AL. v. COSTCO WHOLESALE CORP. ET AL., CASE NO. 8:16‑CV‑00278DOC (C.D. CAL.)
COURT APPROVED LEGAL NOTICEYou might get a payment from the Class Action Settlement described in this Notice.
This settlement resolves a lawsuit (the “Action”) against Costco Wholesale Corp. and LODC Group, Ltd., (referred to collectively as “Costco”), alleging that Costco, which marketed and sold 42.3-fluid-ounce bottles of Kirkland Signature Organic Virgin Coconut Oil (the “Product”), violated certain laws by misleadingly marketing the Product as healthy. Costco denies the allegations and any wrongdoing. If you purchased this product for resale, please forward this notice to your customers. How To Get A Payment. You must submit a claim. The easiest way is to go to www.KirklandCoconutOilSettlement.com and submit a claim form electronically. You may also download the claim form from the website, fill it out and mail it to the class action administrator, postmarked on or before October 30, 2017, at: Kirkland Signature Coconut Oil Settlement, c/o Dahl Administration, P.O. Box 3614, Minneapolis, MN 55403-0614. The amount you receive, if any, will depend on the total number of claims filed, with an estimated payment of between $0.57 (based on a 10% claims rate) and $3.30 (based on a 2% claims rate) per verified unit purchased, up to a maximum of five (5) units. Proof of purchase is not required for Costco members who made purchases at Costco stores on their membership, because Costco has a record of each qualifying purchase that its members made at its stores. Thus, do not contact Costco for proof of these purchases.
Settlement Terms. The proposed class action settlement will provide for $775,000 to pay Class Member claims, notice, administration, plaintiffs’ service awards, legal expenses, and attorneys’ fees. Costco has also agreed to remove the terms “healthy” and “healthful” from the label of the Product, absent a change in the law that permits such use. Class Members who were Costco members at the time of purchase and purchased the Product directly from Costco on their membership can make a claim by providing their contact information and Costco membership number. Class Members who purchased the Product when they were not a member of Costco and/or from someone other than Costco must provide proof of purchase, which must show the purchase price, the date and place of the purchase, and the number of jars purchased. If the Court approves the Settlement and you have not excluded yourself as described below, you will be bound by the Settlement and will be forever barred from suing Costco and related entities for the claims released in the Settlement. The detailed notice available at www.KirklandCoconutOilSettlement.com describes the released claims in detail.
Other Options. If you don’t want to be legally bound by the Settlement, you must exclude yourself by October 30, 2017. If you wish to be excluded from the Class, you must download and print an Opt-Out Form from the Settlement Website (www.KirklandCoconutOilSettlement.com), fill out and sign the form, and mail it to the class action administrator, postmarked on or before October 30, 2017, at : Kirkland Signature Coconut Oil Settlement, c/o Dahl Administration, P.O. Box 3614, Minneapolis, MN 55403-0614. You may elect to object to the Settlement. If you wish to object, you must electronically file via the Court’s ECF system, or deliver to the Clerk of the Court, a written objection by November 13, 2017. The objection must contain certain specific information listed in the detailed notice available at www.KirklandCoconutOilSettlement.com.
Hearing. The Court will hold a Hearing on December 4, 2017 at 8:30 a.m. to consider whether to approve the Settlement, a request for attorneys’ fees of no more than 25% of the common fund ($193,750) and costs of $18,415, and a combined incentive payment of up to $4,000 to the Class Representatives. In the event that notice and administration costs exceed $400,000 by any amount (the “Overage”), Plaintiffs’ counsel have agreed to reduce their fee request by the Overage (e.g., if the actual notice and administration costs are $420,000, then Plaintiffs’ counsel will reduce their maximum fee request by $20,000, to $173,750). You may also appear at the hearing, in person or through your attorney. You do not have to appear at the hearing.
How To Get More Information. Visit www.KirklandCoconutOilSettlement.com or call the settlement administrator at 1-866-875-7574.
