What seems foolish is limiting their audience.
It has been a few years since I did programming but the following seems a better idea.

1. Use modular programming for all app features.
2. Have screens in app use the modules.
3. New versions of app will use older features (if they are to be retained ) as well as newest features.
4. Older versions of app will only use older features.
5. If a feature is no longer available use a module that states “This feature is no longer available, update to latest version to use all currently available features.”
6. Do not FORCE the update.
7. Users who keep using older version might end up with a crippled app with few features working but will not feel abandoned and that redbox does not care about them.

That programming takes effort, testing, and costs $$ so they are wasting resources to keep supporting what they have determined to be a version of the apple IOS that isn’t worth $$ to support anymore. I doubt redbox is the only app that isn’t working anymore on your 6+ yr old phone. I’m an android user so IDK for sure, but I highly suspect it’s not just redbox, since there are several apps that don’t support Android 4.x anymore either, and like I already said eventually every app will require a newer IOS version, so upgrade or use the website instead of the app, it’s as simple as that.

Old OS versions can’t be supported forever, most likely Android 4.x isn’t or won’t be supported anymore either, and yes you eventually have to get new hardware to use the newer OS versions, just like you have to upgrade your PC or MAC or get a DOCSIS 3.0 modem for your broadband, or anything else that requires new technology, you also have to get a new smartphone every 6 years or so to keep up with current versions. Or you can keep your really old phone, and just not use the apps that require newer OS versions, but eventually they all will, so you won’t be able to use anything anymore.

Those look like the free codes you get or can use when you first create a new redbox account, one time use per account, and most of us have already used them years ago, or they might only work at the Kiosk and not in the app or on the website for reservations.

Wow, I didn’t even check for the date when the new Perks program was going to start. I figured it would be a week or two and this was just a notice of the change, but they just changed it without any prior notification effective today, the 18th, the same day they sent out the e-mail with the info about it?

Maybe I missed a prior notification, but if not, that’s pretty crappy of them to change it without some notification that it was going to be changing, so yeah, pretty much starting tomorrow we’re already under the “new” world order of the RB Perks regime without any prior notification apparently.

So since the new “perks” program says PAID everywhere, does that mean promo code rentals aren’t going to earn points in the new program? There is one contradiction in the details, under Qualifying Transaction is just says “DVD, Blu-Ray, On Demand or video game rental;” not PAID, so the earlier description which says PAID everywhere might not rule out promo codes for points.

Actually they don’t ALWAYS has the deals, every few weeks for several months now T-mobile Tuesday has had a FREE rental code, but it’s not every week. Hopefully it continues every few weeks though because with the change to the new Perks points program, it’s going to be a lot harder to get free rentals in the future.

@everica Looks like I did get the play pass points for the game rentals, it just took several days this time as opposed to one or two days like it “normally” has in the past. Their systems must have been backed up, which is good news that promo code and other discount rentals (NOT free credits) still give play pass points, and they don’t have to be picked up either necessarily.

Have the Play Pass points for Expired reservations (online reservations you make but never pick up) changed so you don’t get PP points for them anymore, or are Redbox systems just broken temporarily or for who knows how long. Whenever there is a “universal” free game or free movie offer and I don’t need to rent anything that day or can reserve games or movies with the same universal free code, I have been reserving some games or movies to get 10 play pass points for the reservation(s), but I don’t bother picking up the items. In the past I’ve received 10 play pass points for the reservations even though they expired and were never picked up, but the games I reserved a few days ago didn’t seem to generate any play pass points.

So I’m wondering if RB changed it so you only get PP points for items you actually pick up now, rather than reservations that were made but expired and were never picked up? Has anyone else made any game or movie reservations the past few days that weren’t picked up, but you received play pass points for them?

Agreed, the “[PhatWallet Forums: Welcome Home to Savings]” isn’t needed and is just wasting space.

I’ve been getting e-mails now for a few days for new posts to the forums I’m watching, and I’m hoping whoever is responsible for the formatting and/or management of this site will agree there are some issues with the way they are currently formatted. First the REALLY SUPER LARGE envelope graphic for watched forum e-mails or the CHAT ICON GRAPHIC for chat messages isn’t really necessary and wastes a LOT of space. If you need or want a graphic to distinguish between the different types of e-mail messages that’s fine, but it can probably be 80-90% smaller and not waste so much valuable space. Also, the really big black bar at the bottom of each message also wastes quite a bit of space. It seems like that doesn’t need to be any larger than the black bar at the top, so it’s about 3 times larger than it needs to be.

When I get a few messages and they are grouped together in g-mail, because of the REALLY SUPER LARGE envelope or chat bubble graphic and the BIG TALL black box at the bottom of each message, I have to scroll 3 times as much to read a few messages than I would if these two things were changed/adjusted. I hope the site admins can see the value in making some changes/adjustments to the format for these e-mail messages. Thx!

There is also an option in Settings, for “paging” the posts, which I believe was OFF by default. I changed mine from the default of 20 to 50 posts.

It’s TWO (2) GAMES per credit card, and FIVE (5) MOVIE rentals per credit card, and actually there’s a caveat to that, if you register a NEW credit card, the limit is THREE (3) MOVIE rentals until you use the card to pickup a rental at the kiosk, then it changes to FIVE (5) MOVIE rentals for the new card.

I tried it more than once, and it let me do TWO (2) per credit card on my account, this was yesterday so not sure if they might have changed it or it might still work that way.
