That is a bit steep for an A9 based unit, this will likely be $199 door buster imo

RE: HDTV Antenna, SKYTV Indoor Amplified Digital TV Antenna 50 Mile Range - $22.09 @Amazon
@juicer
yep, this guy has it, that’s a real HDTV antenna right there.
on a side note, if you haven’t checked out the OTA signal in your area, i really suggest you do, you will see what a real HDTV picture should be.
the OTA signal is uncompressed, while satellite/cable use compression routines to stuff all those “great” channels down the pipe, but take a look at your local channel OTA vs. your cable for comparison -

@neilium said in HDTV Antenna, SKYTV Indoor Amplified Digital TV Antenna 50 Mile Range - $22.09 @Amazon:
These have always been hit or miss for me. I can but two of the same and one will have insane range and the other barely reaches my local channels.
these don’t have range, the internals could impact the continuity to the receiver, and obstructions can also impact this, i can get 3 channels in very nice, uncompressed HD with a bare wire, and then some other crap

RE: HDTV Antenna, SKYTV Indoor Amplified Digital TV Antenna 50 Mile Range - $22.09 @Amazon
the claim of “50 mile range” is also bogus, the only measurable strength is in the transmitted signal

the founder of best buy had a motto "stack it high and watch it fly"
you see so many loyal warehouse club members falling for the setup.
impulse by and over buy.
certainly, there are things that might be a good deal, but only if you actually needed it, most members won’t comparison shop, granted, there are likely a few that benefit from their membership, but i’m sure it’s noly a few
it’s just like wal-mart does, they pile up something cheap at the front of the store, and people stop looking at price tags. -

RE: 401K Contributions Limit Increases for 2018...But...
@david-scubadiver
please define "rich"
to call someone “rich” is pretty vague.
just because i’m financially responsible, and i have a nest egg and emergency funds, am i rich?
on the same token, if i were a financial idiot, overextended and living paycheck to paycheck, is that any less “rich”?
people shouldn’t lose sight of personal responsibility, give a dummy a winning lottery ticket and see what happens. -

filter out specific users ?
Hello. is there a way to filter out specific posters?
the Hot Deals section is just littered up with anything and everything from weekly sales flyers and not really any good finds.
i can research the weekly sales myself -
RE: 401K Contributions Limit Increases for 2018...But...
this should have ZERO impact, on your personal responsibility for your own savings and planning for your future.
would certainly be a bummer, but usually when one door closes… -
RE: Credit Card limit your max amount if possible.
if you have an “excellent credit rating” the CC company will normally be on your side first with any dispute in my experience, and you might be liable for the first $50, but i have never been held to that and my CC number has been stolen a few times over the past several years

RE: redpocket
Sticking with PagePlus. It’s on the Verizon network and is only $80 a year. Only $6.67 a month, find something cheaper than that.
There must have been some changes over at PagePlus. I had them for a year or so, and other than the fact that they were a Verizon MVNO, I didn’t find much to recommend them.
When I had the 2000 minute plan, it was a “3G only plan”. That didn’t just mean you couldn’t get LTE data, it meant that they would not activate an LTE device. Wasn’t a problem for me at the time, I had ZTE Venture 3G phones. But in 2017, that strikes me as a pretty serious limitation for any cell plan.
The other problem I had with PP (on a monthly plan) was that autopay routinely did not “re-up”. The dealer I used…and I had to use a dealer, because the 2000 minute plan was a “secret” plan that was only available through dealers…warned me in advance that, due to some sort of bug with PP, sometimes your autopay wouldn’t “take” and your account would expire. Several times I got to work and found that my account had expired in the middle of the night and I would have to scramble to re-activate.
Finally the dealer suggested that I put an additional $10 prepay credit on my account, and that would cover any brief lapses due to the renewal process. It seemed to work, but I felt that having to deal with a band-aid like that reflected poorly on PP.
All other things being equal, $80/year for cell service is pretty reasonable but, depending upon your usage, there are alternatives. For example, another Verizon MVNO, Selectel Wireless, has a 2000 min/1500 text yearly plan for $75.00. I used them for a year with no issues. They used to offer a $100/year plan with LTE data, don’t know if that’s still available though.
Right now, if you’re an Xfinity customer, I would go as far as to say that it’s impossible to beat Xfinity Wireless’ rates. I have several lines now with unlimited talk & text on Verizon for about $36/yr each.
If you’re not an Xfinity customer and you’re a very light user, Tello bears looking into. I have one line left on Tello. Their PAYG rates start at $10, which gives you up to 333 minutes of talk time, 1000 texts, or 500 MB of 4G LTE data, and as long as you place at least one call every six months, your credits never expire. So far I have one very light user on Tello PAYG for almost a year for $10. That is hard to beat.
If you don’t mind a T-Mobile MVNO, MintSIM is a pretty good value if you need data. They’ll sell you a yearly plan with unlimited minutes, text and data (throttled after 2 GB 4G LTE) for $180/yr.
i never had a problem with auto refill, for several years

had pageplus for several years, no problems at all, the redpocked plan winds up saving us about $12/monthly and it’s an American owned company

RE: Opting-In to the 2018 Military Blended Retirement System
i left the service at 8 years, i did not think the pension was worthwhile nor sustainable, the VA medical is a toilet that benefits VA executives under the guise of taking care of our vets.
i wanted to get started on my own retirement plan that had fk-all to do with the government, and pulling $175k annual , so anyone in the service should,
gobble up all the free education you can get, make sure you get into a marketable MOS/AFSC ect… and start an IRA/ROTH early, and not the one the hucksters will try to sell G.I.'s, go educate yourself on retirement investing , so basically you don’t feel tied down if an opportunity in the civilian world comes around the lines up with a separation opportunity, marketable skills + money in the bank + retirement savings = you in control -
RE: redpocket
switched over sunday (wife’s phone) ported from pageplus to redpocket, will save just over $12 fro the same plan, and redpocket is an American owned company.
2 issues with the process (their problems)
i ordered the plan via their website, $30 monthly, and they sent the sim needed for the network, ran through the port on line, on the account page, there is a link for “check mobile account status” which you have to set up in addition to the other account sign up, no where does it tell you that.
then i wanted to sigh up for the auto refill, so it activated it same day, so i had to then get back on the chat and get that sorted out, as had already paid for that.
outside of those hiccups, the port went through in less than 2 minutes and everything is working as intended on the VZ towers, i guess to avoid the couple of problems, i suppose i could have found a dealer, but everything was sorted through live chat, on a Sunday morning, and i would have had to put on pants -
RE: Delta Airlines: Free Texting In Flight via GOGO starts October 1
actually, all you do is make sure you don’t have the gogo app on your device, try to connect and when you are redirected to the app store, minimize the app store and browse/text/game/email for 15-20 minutes, then it boots you and you have to do it over again

RE: Cash Back Site Comparison Tools
ebates can suck it, they never paid any of my cashback, and when i asked for an explanation, they said the time frame had lapsed and they would not even offer an explanation.
all the transactions had the ebates “shopping trip” number, so i assumed it was good to go.
quite a departure from the way FW used to do cash back.
ebates is now just a click bait toilet, as far as I’m concerned. -
