FrugalFreak, they usually give each bundle a theme, I’m sure there’ll be more puzzle/platform/casual bundles in the future.

RE: High Rated $0.99 Digital HD Movie Rentals: The Notebook, Flight, Gravity, The Hobbit and More
For our google accounts, we’ve gotten promo offers in the Play store this week for $.99 rentals for any movie. You have to claim it now and pick the movie by Jan 14 for viewing within 30 days, but it appears to apply for any available title.
These kind of offers have been YMMV for us in the past, so it may not appear for every account. This one did for each account we checked.

RE: Free Neil Young's Entire Catalog in Hi-Res on Stream
Did you mean on “Stream”? That’s what it looks like is offered, though I wondered if this was a promo for some kind of new music service from the game distribution platform Steam.
Parts weren’t very clear to me. It looks like you have to sign up to get any site access. I used a (unique, as usual) email account and got right in, with a welcome email that has important information too:
“Between now and June 30, you’ll have free access to the entire Neil Young Archives with unlimited streaming. So have at it! (And don’t worry; once your trial is up, you’ll be able to sign up for a subscription at a very modest cost.)”So that’s quite a while, though it won’t stay free forever. There are “buy” options all over, with either a ‘high quality’ option from a vendor I didn’t recognize or links to standard Amazon pages for the albums. I don’t see any intended way to save media now.
Once signed up, the site overuses a stupid “file cabinet” metaphor that mostly obscures navigation and options. But most clicks seem to lead to music listings.
I had to disable my Disable HTML5 Autoplay chrome add-in to get playback to work - that’s not too unusual, I have to do that to preview MP3s on other sites too.
I thought I had a lot of Neil Young music. I’m a casual fan like anyone sensible and my age, but also got a free copy of the collection also named “Neil Young Archives” via a FW link a couple years ago. But it looks like there’s a ton here I don’t have, most of it I’ve not heard of.
I’m kind of an anti-audiophile. I am far too cheap to understand how much some people spend on equipment, and remember scoffing at Neil’s promotion of a new portable player a few years ago that supports some crazy bitrate and fidelity. And he’s continuing the audio quality crusade here. I’m playing back with default settings, which I think mostly means a high bitrate MP3.
I have to admit, the quality is excellent. I’ll have to compare some of the same songs I’ve ripped from CD. I may have a holiday project to re-rip them all with better rates.

RE: Steam & GOG.com Keys
Here we go, with a minor twist - this is a GOG key. I haven’t traded these before, but I think this will be good for a copy of The Witcher. They had a giveaway earlier this year, but I already have both a DVD and steam copy.

RE: Steam & GOG.com Keys
Thanks, Qwyx, I was able to redeem your Tomb Raider. I think I must have an unused key or two to post also, but wanted to get this on right away.

Is there a way to unpin threads?
Most categories have at least a few threads pinned by default, but for me, there are many that are not of ongoing interest. Is there a button somewhere to unpin those, or even hide them entirely? If not, that would be a useful feature to me. Thanks!

RE: Plants vs Zombies GOTY (Origin) is free "On the House"
I think they’ve done this one before too, but it is a great game. Mind-boggling that they didn’t name it Lawn of the Dead though!

RE: HDHomeRun - Connect Quatro Tuner - Black $99.99 @Best Buy
Your link didn’t work for me, not sure if bestbuy redecorated or there’s an issue with the link redirection. Here’s where I find it now: https://www.bestbuy.com/site/hdhomerun-connect-quatro-tuner-black/6079602.p?skuId=6079602
I’ve got a couple of HDHomeRun devices already, but think I’d have taken this over my 2 tuner ota model. Once in a while, there’s an overload on viewing, and sometimes what seems to be a false complaint that might be avoided with a bigger pool of tuners like this. But the device is great - I use NextPVR on windows to record a couple of late night shows I like, and watch those back with VLC media player. Next PVR plays back too, but was a little flaky for me. For live viewing, I use Next PVR - gives access where we don’t have a tv, or the HDHomerun has better tuning than the tv, and allows for DVR pausing, rewinding, jumping ahead.

My lucky day! $1 credit and I didn’t have to add a Dan Brown book to my collection - woohoo!

RE: Free $1 Amazon Kindle Ebook Credit
MrVietnam, the ‘win’ was about a book giveaway. After that, I was given one more link to click to claim the $1 credit.
The credit expires Jan 1, 2018.

RE: H&R Block New Years Sale: Deluxe Tax Software + State + Refund Bonus Offer (PC Download) $19.99 @ Amazon
I believe that’s the deal again this year, mmyk. State efiling adds a big fee. My state has its own online filing system and is relatively simple. So if I’m getting a refund, I take the numbers from my tax software and paste them into my state form.

RE: Free Book The Tumor by John Grisham
The link also gives access to downloading an ebook version, with multiple formats and sources. It’s 47 pages with generous color photos and other images, so one of the bigger ebooks I’ve seen.
It’s not really a novel or even a short story, but a fictionalized promotion of an emerging medical technology that the author is supporting - apparently pioneered by a friend of his.
I didn’t know anything about the technology 15 minutes ago, this looks like the most useful page of info:
https://www.fusfoundation.org/diseases-and-conditions-all/overviewThey suggest it has potential to treat many conditions, and it’s gotten FDA approvals for a few.

RE: Free Internet Broadcast TV for NYers
Interesting, Aereo started in NYC too:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aereo
I imagine NYC is an especially poor location for picking up OTA signals.I guess ‘nonprofit translator’ is the legal angle for locast. But I agree that we should assume locast will be shut down too - aereo seemed very legally sound to me.
