Yes, that has been reported in the Safeway thread on SD. Also, auto-drain no longer works, even for regular groceries. Supposedly buying GC with the Safeway GC still works, which does not make sense if they want to restrict the prepaid Visa/MC.

Can you buy a Safeway/Acme store GC with a prepaid Visa/MC? If that worked, could you then buy a prepaid Visa/MC with that store GC?

FYI, some chains have a spend $300 by Thanksgiving, earn a free turkey (J4U activation req 'd, tracks spend). after reading the T&C can’t find where GC’s are excluded, so buying these MAY (repeat MAY) give you $200 towards a free turkey. I just bought 2 $100 MasterCard gift cards at my local Safeway affiliate (Vons) and no where on the receipt does it mention me earning points towards a turkey, so either gift cards don’t count or only certain Safeway affiliates are offering the turkey promo and not others. Not sure which.

EDIT: Nevermind. I missed the part about J4U activation required. However, after the fact I went to my J4U coupons and I could not find a coupon about a free turkey with a $300 spend. Where did you find the offer om J4U? Under which category? I looked under “meat” and “special offers” and found nothing, so maybe Vons is not participating?

Under my Acme J4U account, on the left side of the page under “Events”, one that’s listed is “Free Turkey”. Check off that box and it will bring you to that digital coupon.

You can get free shipping from the kiosk. I was at a store and did it today. I’m not sure about the parking lot trick. Btw, my local store still has an extra 20% off clearance.

Ace Hardware was part of a Shop Small deal a few years back, but they weren’t showing on the map this year. I stopped in today, spent $14, and got $5 back. If you have their rewards card, they email and mail out coupons every so often. I had a $7 off $20 to use today.
