HDTV Antenna, SKYTV Indoor Amplified Digital TV Antenna 50 Mile Range - $22.09 @Amazon

there is no such thing as an “HDTV” antenna
-
this type of product reminds me of a colleague who is the DIY type, he was able to get over 50 channels with a paper clip contraption. he lives in a major city and that is what I think makes a lot of difference.
for those who are interested in this device, make sure to check the 1 star comments before you buy.

the claim of “50 mile range” is also bogus, the only measurable strength is in the transmitted signal
-
These have always been hit or miss for me. I can but two of the same and one will have insane range and the other barely reaches my local channels.

these don’t have range, the internals could impact the continuity to the receiver, and obstructions can also impact this, i can get 3 channels in very nice, uncompressed HD with a bare wire, and then some other crap

Take a length of coaxial cable cut off one end connector and strip back about 9 inches of the plastic outer cover and insulation from one end to expose the central copper wire. Now connect the other end to the coax connector on back of tv. Done!
Depending on how close you are to a window (or strength of signal) make the coax cable long enough to reach the window.
There’s is always someone throwing away old coax where I live so this is a free solution.

@juicer
yep, this guy has it, that’s a real HDTV antenna right there.
on a side note, if you haven’t checked out the OTA signal in your area, i really suggest you do, you will see what a real HDTV picture should be.
the OTA signal is uncompressed, while satellite/cable use compression routines to stuff all those “great” channels down the pipe, but take a look at your local channel OTA vs. your cable for comparison

The more sub channels the worse it is. Even the master satellite feed is compressed from original content. I know people who still use free-to-air c band satellite dishes to get the best picture possible from the unencrypted satellite feeds. If you’re lucky sometimes you can catch a sporting event being sent back to the studio over satellite in full HD bit rate.

I had a channel master one I got for 10 dollars that i gave to a friend then i bought an amplified one for 10 bucks that i don’t think is as good but is ok. It is hit or miss hard to figure out. my goal on these things is making it a 10 dollar purchase
