eBay Best Price Guarantee: 110% of the Difference

I don’t know when this started and can’t recall eBay ever offering price matching, so I’m posting this for those who weren’t aware either (especially considering the juicy list of retailers eBay is currently price matching)…

    ====================================================================

eBay’s Best Price Guarantee ensures that you get the best price for new items found on eBay.

With Best Price Guarantee, if you buy a qualifying item on eBay and find it for less on an approved competitor’s website, we’ll beat the price by giving you 110% of the difference.

If you purchased an item and found it at a better price through one of our approved competitors, [let our customer service team know the item you purchased and where you found the lower price. We’ll verify that your item qualifies and provide you with a coupon for the difference to use on a future purchase on eBay .com.

    Qualifying for Best Price Guarantee
In order to qualify for Best Price Guarantee, you need to be a registered eBay member, and the item needs to be:

    • Displayed on the eBay Deals page or displaying the Best Price Guarantee logo
    • Purchased within the last 48 hours
    • New and unopened
    • Identical and available; both items (eBay’s and the competitor’s) should be currently in stock and on one of the sites below:
      • Amazon .com
      • BestBuy .com
      • Walmart .com
      • HomeDepot .com
      • Target .com
      • Sears .com
      • Wayfair .com
      • Jet .com

  • I wonder how that will work when I buy something on a whim only to find out they are an Amazon “reshipper” or whatever it’s called. They basically order from Amazon and have it sent to me and I find the Amazon gift receipt inside the box and see an Amazon warehouse sender address? On a couple of those, I see the Amazon price a bit cheaper but then again I’ve seen it more expensive.

I suspect that only the buyer and the eBay seller know if an item was drop shipped. As long as you can find the qualified item’s product page listing it cheaper on Amazon than what you paid on eBay, I think the supplier/shipper is irrelevant if you get the described item in the expected condition, at the listed price, and by the date promised (and I wouldn’t even confuse matters by mentioning it in the price match request).

What is more disturbing to me is your observation that you’re receiving Amazon warehouse items… if the item was listed/sold as new on eBay. That’s grounds for filing a eBay/PayPal dispute (and items that aren’t new and unopened invalidates eligibility for eBay’s price matching anyway).
