Lowe's Smart Garden 4.5-cu ft Poly Yard Cart, Clearance $10.96 (from $40.98) YMMV

On clearance at some Lowe’s stores, cannot order online going to “regular” website, ie. lowes.com
HOWEVER, (and quite notably), if you go to lowesforpros.com you can order clearance items online for store pickup. In this particular case, the link for this Item # 484313 Model # SLC450 (for us “pros”, lol) is:
Smart Garden 4.5-cu ft Poly Yard Cart

Hope some get it - it’s still $40.98 at my local store.
-
I have to sign up for a Lowe’s Pro account to place the order. Anyone have an account to lend?

16 in one store for $13.25. 14 in the next closest store for $10.24.

Same here… heck of a deal if you can get it.

Is it in stock? It might be showing full price because its oos. If its not available for immediate pick up its oos.

15 in my store at reduced price. If spring was closer I would grab 10 of them and flip them. Spring doesn’t really get going till late may around here and don’t want to sit on them that long. Still might pick up 2 or 3.

I was trying to figure out where I could store them until flip season. They’re already assembled. It would be easier to store them if they were not assembled and were in boxes.
-
@my4mainecoons I can store them, but getting them here I guess I’ll need to borrow a pickup. Didn’t think about them being fully assembled. Not sure if I can fit 3 in a Jeep.
Did you figure a way to order them? I just started a pro account under a throw away email…only took a minute or two.

I hadn’t thought about fitting them in my Accord… They’re only 4.5 cf so I might be able to fit 2 in the car, maybe 1 in the trunk. I’m not going to order online. I’m going to take my chances that they’ll still be available in-store. I need to see them to know how many my car can hold. I won’t be near the stores (an hour away) until Friday. I have Lowe’s gc to use which can’t be used on pro site.

@my4mainecoons I just went and measured the two I have sitting in my garage. The overall dimensions for one is about 39"L x 23"W x 26"H. But note they’ve been designed to “stack”, with indents in the bottom for wheels, such that if you put another one inside, it adds only 10" to the total height (now 36") and the other dimensions hold.
So I guess you could stack quite a few up in a single space if you had some special application in mind. I remember that some folks were buying up lots of the Ames 4ft poly carts when Home Depot had the springtime sale on them for $20, simply to catch rainwater for gardening purposes. These would likely be great for that as well. I wish I’d bought more than the single one of the (non-stacking) Ames carts, which has been great for all kinds of tasks, despite living outside for 5 years…

@ukedog I collect rain water in a rain barrel. I put my watering can under the spigot and turn the tap. That’s much easier than bending and scooping. I got the rain barrel on clearance because the spigot was missing. My plumber gave me a 1/2" spigot that he had sitting on a shelf.
I got a cart similar to this at a yard sale for $35. After a few years I sold it in my yard sale for ~$20 because I wasn’t using it. Wheelbarrows, collapsible bins and plastic bags work better for me. What do you use yours for?
-
@my4mainecoons I’ve used my Ames garden cart on all kinds of projects, not just gardening, but hauling heavy loads of broken up concrete (> 200lbs), as well as mixing concrete up too. Perfect for that, unlike these carts with their bottom recesses. I also have a conventional 6cu ft steel one-wheel wheelbarrow, but favor the Ames almost always. Not sure how I’ll use these new carts yet, lol.
-
@ukedog Please keep making suggestions.
I have 6 cf. and 4 cf one wheel metal wheelbarrows. I could mix cement in either and they’re easier to move when loaded than the garden cart. The wheelbarrows can hang or stand on end for storing. I have a UPS type hand truck and a folding hand truck for moving cases of paper, wood pellets, rain barrel, etc. I’d like a cart but I need a reason to keep one other than the price. When I owned one it became a storage bin and I didn’t need a storage bin.

Went to store where inventory said that they had 14 for 13.25 ea. None where they were supposed to be but after hunting around found pallet of 14 on uppermost shelf. Wasn’t sure how many would fit in my car so I took 2 to CS and asked for PM to the store across town where they were $10.24. OK. Got to the register and they rang up for $10.24, no PM needed. They fit like wide people with the handle being the feet and the body like a body.

@my4mainecoons So whatcha gonna do with all them carts, MaineCoons? (inquiring minds, etc) I’m thinking if you left them in your car, you might slip through some HOV lanes…

LOL. I’d have to drive a few hours to find an HOV lane. Flip.
BTW, they don’t stack. No wheel wells.
-
@ukedog Did you end up getting carts? I was only able to fit 3 in my car. I’m in a “clear out” mood so last night I listed them for $22 on FB. They should be gone by 10AM.
This thread should be Expired.
-
@my4mainecoons Yeah this should definitely be expired, especially the LowesForPros bit/url (they shut that down months ago).
If you still had a hankering for one of these carts for $50, you can find them online at Ace Hardware.
And yes, I bought a couple. Btw they do stack, at least as high as their 10" wheels would permit. Such that each one adds about 11" or so height.
However, the recesses in the cart bottom that enable this, i.e. to allow the rear “legs” to nest, also makes this cart unsuitable for things like cement mixing. That’s why these are only my “second favorite” plastic garden cart, lol.
My favorite is the Ames 4cu ft Poly Garden Cart that Home Depot used to sell for $20 each spring.
