I have a free daily coffee subscription right now. IDK if that’s why I received the offer or if it’s because I’ve never redeemed free bagel offers. It was never worth a trip for just a bagel but it is worth a trip for bagel & coffee.

I missed 2 days because of snow

Yesterday I came up with a plan…
Yesterday I ordered bagel & decaf to pick up in 15 min. Then discovered I had 3" of new snow so I stopped to clear the driveway. Then headed to Panera.
By the time I got there it was 10 min. before the 2 hr minimum based on the time stamp on the receipt.
Waited the 10 min. then went through the drive through for 2nd cup.The Panera closest to me stops serving decaf at 2PM. Even if they have any they tell me that they throw it away. Yeah, right.
So I just ordered bagel & decaf to pick up at 11:53.
The city plows just came through so that means I have at least another 3" to clear right now.
By the time I finish clearing snow it should be close to 2PM. I might be able to get another decaf when I drive through. If not I’ll get the large iced coffee w/o ice.

I’m very confused. Panera coffee tastes like raw sewage on a good day. Why would you want to drink it if it doesn’t provide any caffeine?
Also why would they stop serving decaf in the evening? Isn’t the whole point of Decaf to drink something that resembles coffee in the afternoon, but without the side effect of not being able to sleep half the night.

@dangeruss Yes it makes no sense to me that they stop serving it at 2PM. When I’ve been to other locations they have decaf in the PM.
I’m sensitive to caffeine and am a slow metabolizer (really). if I have a full dose of caffeine in afternoon it will keep me awake all night. Since I work until midnight+ I need a small dose of caffeine so I drink ~ a quart of decaf with some regular tossed in around late afternoon.
Decaf can’t be purchased as cheaply as full test. In fact, I have a few $15/$15 coffee from Staples and I’m using them to buy bags of decaf coffee. Getting decaf from Panera means I don’t have to use my beans for 2 mo.

I’ve loaded up on coffee with the Dunkin Credits from T-Mobile Tues. I have friends and relatives send me their codes and I combine them to get $20 credit, then buy 3 bags of coffee for $20 (It’s B2G1 Free).
The problem is that it’s so weak, it might as well be decaf. Although they probably sell decaf as well.

My point exactly. You are the type of person decaf was invented for, so it makes zero sense to not serve it in the afternoon.

@dangeruss I agree completely which is why I try to get there before 2PM. I got there at 2:05PM. They didn’t have any left. They offered to brew some for me (which they’ve never done before) but I declined. Maybe I’ll take them up on it another time.
I don’t have a cell phone and if I did, I don’t think we have T Mobile here. I can get gift cards for DD with P&G Do Good Everyday points. (P&GDGED gave me my 2 mo of free coffee at Panera).
Probably a dumb question, but do they sell beans at the donut shops?

@dangeruss TYVM!!! I can get StarBucks eGC with my P&GGE points and StarBucks stores probably sell coffee beans, right?!! I forget about Starbucks because the closest shops are an hour north or south but I’m in those areas at least once a month.

Starbucks and dunkin both sell beans in store, although if you are looking for whole bean DD can be hit or miss.
I think the best deals (outside of getting some free gift cards) are probably going to be costco/bjs/sams club. I think I see the Starbucks beans there on sale fairly often. Amazon often has good S&S for beans. I usually tend to get a lot when they’re on sale and then not buy for a long time.
If you want something that tastes good, though, you’re probably better off getting something local. There’s a vendor that comes to the farmers market in the summer that has some nice tasting beans. Was a good use of the amex shop small offers.
