I found myself making a list of things that I need to do by the end of the year. What are others finishing up? Maybe I forgot something.

    Buy U.S. savings bond
Complete 4 Walmart.com transactions with Amex
Complete 5 gas station purchases with Amex
    Spend Mobil gas rewards
    Submit Blue Diamond almond rebates
    Recycle ink cartridges
    Use up KFR points
Submit receipt for Kraft rebate by 1/4
    Get RA accounts to Gold
(Spend your FSA funds if your company didn’t opt to allow unlimited carry over to 2022.)

Good reminder list. I just submitted my Blue Diamond almond rebates yesterday. Recycled ink cartridges earlier this month. Another item on my list was to run a draft 2021 tax return using known amounts and putting in estimated amounts if I don’t have the final amounts yet to see if it would be better to pay our 2021 real estate taxes this year (we paid the 2020 taxes last February) or wait until next year (we have until the end of February here), depending on whether the additional deduction would affect the bottom line. Turns out it doesn’t, we’ll just take the standard deduction, so we’ll wait until sometime in January to get them paid.

  • @dionaea Like your real estate tax method,
Instead of making 2 payments per year, I let one slide into next year.
As a result, every other year I have only 1 tax payment, so take standard deduction.
Then following year have 3 tax payments, so itemize.
Also, I make little charitable contributions in the standard deduction year, then double the amount in the itemize year.

  • just two more days to get your charitable deductions up to $600.00. This is an above the line deduction, for TY 2021. This is the last year this in in effect, unless the law is changed.

$600 is for married filing jointly, $300 limit if you’re filing single.

  • Lots of the rebate cards from NBPR rebates expire today.

  • Make sure to go to Dollar Tree before all their prices go up. 😉
