Website has issues creating account so I guess my pack of stray cats will go hungry.
-
Will this work automatically when I buy it in-store, or do I have to go on the Petco website and activate the offer to my card? I found a section on Petco once where I could activate various offers, but I’ve searched the site thoroughly several times since and can’t find that section again.
-
@dionaea This offer doesn’t require activation. All you have to do is to make purchase using your card.
The offers you saw are monthly offers, including the $10 wyb cat/dog bed.
->Petco dot com
upper right side of page, hover over Account
->Pals Rewards
-> log in
At the bottom of the Pals Rewards page you’ll see the monthly Bonus Offers which require activation

Might be too much for you but to maximize, I suggest you do the following.
- Buy MM Canidae on Dec. 16. You should receive the $10 Pals by Monday Dec. 18.
- Buy this pet bed using $5 of the $10 from Canidae. PM to dot com. Pay $3 oop. You’ll receive another $10 in Pals Rewards. Now you have $15 in Pals.
- Buy large bag of Hills Science Diet paying with $15 in Pals. Don’t PM to dot com. Pay store price. You’ll get back another $10 in Pals.
ALSO, if you have Amex there was a $5 statement credit wyb $25 at Petco. I began by buying a $25 Petco gc in the store. Earned $5 statement credit and have paid my small oop’s with that gc.
-
No Amex, but I can do the rest of it. Thanks for babystepping it.
-
@dionaea I forgot the last step. Use that last $10 Pals to buy small bag of Science Diet. Pay < $4 oop. Get back another $5 Pals Reward.
-
Oh, wow! That’s icing on the deal.
-
CANIDAE Grain Free PURE Sea Adult Fresh Salmon Cat Food, 2.5 lbs. is $7.90 right now. I printed page for PM.
CANIDAE Under The Sun Grain Free Adult Chicken Dog Food, 4 lbs. is $9.29. There may be cheaper dog food but I only checked a few.
-
@my4mainecoons , why do you pm dot com price at petco instead of just ordering online? I always have issues getting my rewards and have to do a chat, is it smoother in store? My closest store is 70 miles away in the capital, so don’t get there very often. I just did a chat to get the $10 rewards from buying WholeHearted last week.
-
@briarycliffs How do you use manufacturer coupon online?
Just bought a bag of Salmon PM’d for $7.90 - $5 mq = $2.90 tax, expecting $10 PALS back
-
I didn’t think about manufacturer’s coupons. I just wish their PALS rewards came like they are supposed too.
-
@briarycliffs Sometimes they do… Fortunately their CS is usually very quick to give you rewards you’re owed.
-
Finally got through to CS (very busy today apparently) as I had not received the $10 RR for the purchase of Whole Hearted Grain free cat food on Dec. 4 as an online order. The CS tried to say there was a $30 minimum purchase to get the $10 RR, but I knew that was not true. She ended up doing a credit back to my CC for $10. I purchased a dog bed in-store that should have triggered a $10 RR but didn’t, but I’ve purchased another dog bed just like it online yesterday and hopefully that will trigger the $10 RR since I know for sure I activated the offer, and it’s one per customer. The CS said they’re near the coastline with a monsoon coming in, everyone evacuated to shelters or staying safe inside the offices, so I’m sure that’s probably responsible for at least some of the delay with phone calls to the CS department.

@dionaea @briarycliffs
For November’s Spend $30 on dog or cat food earn $10 PALS, the system awarded it once w/o calling. Had to call for 2 other accts.For the buy any pet bed get $10 PALS, the system awarded it once w/o calling. Had to call about the 2nd acct probably because the system didn’t see it as a bed-- see the pet bed thread, but we’ll call it a fail.
For the buy Solid Gold dog or cat food earn $10 PALS (last weekend’s offer) the system awarded it for my one purchase.
For the buy small bag Science Diet get $5 PALS and buy larger bag HSD get $10 PALS the system has awarded it properly 4 of 4 times.
Not too bad.

@my4mainecoons
How did you get the cashier to accept both a price match and manufacture coupon? I was told by store manager that I can ONLY do either a price match or use a coupon, not both. What exactly is their store policy? (Thanks everyone for continuing to post deals here! I’ve been a long time fatwallet.com watcher/user since the mid 2000s and am glad that many of the senior members have migrated over to this site)
-
@puppystar You had an idiot manager. I’ve been doing PM and manufacturer coupons w/o issue. Their policy doesn’t say that you can’t. I’d call CS.
-
@my4mainecoons
Thanks again for your quick reply. I just called CS a couple minutes ago and the rep told me that that their store policy is indeed correct. A price match even from their website pricing is considered a “discount” so I can’t apply or use anything else to get a further discount; in this case via using a manufacturers coupon. It looks like if the cashier scans your coupon, the discount will be applied but officially maybe they’re not suppose to?
-
@puppystar you can use a store discount and a manufacturer discount. The PM is the store discount, the manufacturer coupon is a manufacturer discount. CS was incorrect but sounds like you can’t win.
-
@my4mainecoons What you said makes sense. It seems like the store manager is arbitrarily applying his own rules on the usages of coupons or discounts. I can’t seem to find anywhere in the website where it mentions the usage of coupons or the scenario where a price match from petco.com negates the usage of a manufacturers coupon. I think we need to challenge them and apply the Contra Proferentem Rule? (don’t want to keep typing since I have carpel tunnel. Please google if you don’t know about this) I picked up this term from a senior member (was it the great Mr. Cheap?) of fallwallet.com a while back.
-
@puppystar I think you have a “special” store manager. I’m not aware of other people being denied the use of manufacturer coupons on top of store discount. Unfortunately your only solution would be to shop at a different Petco.

My $10 PALS reward arrived.
