AMEX OFFERS: Get 15% back on U.S.-based SUPERMARKET purchases (in-store or online), up to $10, Expires 12/31/18

YMMV on getting the offer, of course, but I found this offer this morning on my Hilton Hhonors card. To max out you need to accumulate $66.67 of grocery purchases to get the full $10 back (you can do it over multiple shopping trips). I like these type of offers that gives you a percentage and lets you choose the store you redeem it at.

    Details

Get 15% back as a statement credit by using your enrolled Card in-store or online at a US-based Supermarket by 12/31/2018. Limit of $10 in total statement credits. See terms for exclusions.

    Offer Terms

Enrollment limited. Must first add offer to Card and then use same Card to redeem. Only U.S.-issued American Express® Cards are eligible. Limit 1 enrolled Card per Card Member across all American Express offer channels. Your enrollment of an eligible American Express Card for this offer extends only to that Card. Offer valid for in-store and online purchases at US Supermarkets. “Supermarket” means a standalone merchant in the US primarily selling supermarket products. Excludes gasoline purchases. Specialty food stores, Superstores or Warehouse Clubs are not considered Supermarket stores. Offer is non-transferable. Limit of $10 in total statement credits per Card Member. Statement credit will appear on your billing statement within 90 days after 12/31/2018, provided that American Express receives information from the merchant about your qualifying purchase. Note that American Express may not receive information about your qualifying purchase from merchant until all items from your qualifying purchase have been provided/shipped by merchant. Statement credit may be reversed if qualifying purchase is returned/cancelled. If American Express does not receive information that identifies your transaction as qualifying for the offer, you will not receive the statement credit. For example, your transaction will not qualify if it is not made directly with the merchant. Merchants are assigned codes based on what they primarily sell. Your transaction also will not qualify if the merchant’s code is not eligible. In addition, in most cases, you may not receive the statement credit if your transaction is made with an electronic wallet or through a third party or if the merchant uses a mobile or wireless card reader to process it. By adding an offer to a Card, you agree that American Express may send you communications about the offer. POID: GCCZ:0001

  • Thanks, got this offer on my Amex EveryDay card.

  • Not that it’s hard to spend $66.67 in one purchase at a supermarket (especially with the holidays approaching), but my wife’s card has this offer and upon reading the fine print it was a not clear if is limited to a single purchase or not. Most of the cumulative offers refer to “one or more purchases”, where this one simply refers to using your card…

We generally don’t use AMEX at the supermarket, so I suggested to wait until she has a $75-100 purchase to use this (or wait for #MisterCheap to tell us when ShopRite is running gift card promos again)…

I solved that problem by yesterday buying a $66.67 Food4Less gift card at Food4Less (Kroger). That way I can use it over multiple shopping trips if I want, but I made the initial purchase at one time. instantly got the confirmation e-mail from Am Ex in my inbox.

The reason I think you can do it over multiple shopping trips is it says “Lumit $10 in total statement credits” (plural) I think if you feel not clear if multiple choices are allowed, you should do as I did and make it simple and have one less thing too worry about.

@mrvietnam Do you think I could buy a gas gc and get the credit? IDK if I’d spend $66 at the supermarket by Dec. 31 otherwise. I already use my Amex at supermarket since it gives me 3% back on groceries which is better than any other card I have.

So you must have the Am Ex Blue Everyday Card.

Yes, of course you could buy any gift card in store (or online for that matter), including gas gc, and get the credit. Am Ex just looks at how much and where you spend not what you bought.

Safeway currently has $50/$100 Visa and MasterCard discount offers for small MM, which can be used for this Amex Offer.

Good idea. The MM you speak of is $15 off when you buy either 2 $100 Visas or 2 $100 Mastercards (each are separate offers so you need to save each of them if you are interested in both), so it comes to a $3.10 MM plus the Am Ex $10 plus any cash back or loyalty points you get for using your Am Ex card.
