@gremln007 Am I reading this right? Did they slash the deal price in the OP from $120 to $79.99? Seems too good to be true so I want a 2nd opinion before I update the OP.

Looks like that to me too!

  • I think it’s $119.99 BOGOF or $79.99 for one single unit.
I ordered BOGOF the other day, but when I put two in my cart it charged for two, so I hope I receive two units as I could only choose one case color…

Yeah, this listing has me confused. I looked at the BOGO info so many times, and the best I could figure out was that they considered the phone one unit and the year of service as the second unit, so that’s how I posted it (1 phone with 1 year of service). I don’t agree that “it’s $119.99 BOGOF or $79.99 for one single unit” because when I first posted this, the price was listed as $119.99 with no mention of getting 2 phones with 2 plans, but today it’s listed as $79.99 with no mention of $119.99 or an additional discount/sale (usually in red letters) when you buy 2. How many did you end up checking out with in your cart and what was the charge? TIA.

Thanks, I didn’t see any other changes to the listing other than price. Anyway, I updated the OP. Do you think this should be cross-posted in the master Tracfone thread? I never know what’s considered a good deal to that crew.

    @fivetalents Not sure 🙂

  • A couple (few?) days ago they had BOGOF with specific instructions to add two items to the shopping cart to receive one free… I feel I’m going to receive one phone and have to complain vehemently. I already have and use this model phone, but the CDMA service is awful in my area, a visitor recently had full signal with T-mobile… I’m keeping my fingers crossed

Thanks for the info. Looking at the revision history, it looks like they edited the listing the day after I posted this thread. Maybe those edits were to add missing BOGO details that should have been there the day before? They’ve edited the details 5 times since I posted so who knows what they changed (I wish users could see all cached or archived versions prior to each edit). So anyone who bought before the addition/after the removal of the “add two to get one free” instructions may have grounds to request a second phone and file a dispute if denied based on the product title (as seen in my OP).

You, however, you should have an iron-clad case: although the price you pay at checkout is always the final price (so you shouldn’t pay it unless all automatic discounts, GCs, and coupons codes are applied correctly), the description is a contract and eBay can see what the seller promised (you can view the version of the listing at the time of your purchase in your account order history too). You should be able to get the 2nd phone or refund via eBay or Paypal, or do a credit card charge back if applicable.

Please post an update when your order is delivered.

  • The buy one deal is still an excellent price, that’s worth it for the year of service, alone.

It looks like they’ve updated it to just one, as the title of the page now reflects

Tracfone LG Fiesta 2 Phone + 1 Year of Service

    and not

Thanks for the insights @ArthurPeale… it looks like they changed the listing/title after I observed ‘BOGO’ in the product title on the 13th. Do you think I should cross post this in the Tracfone master thread?

  • Yep, just as I figured, they sent me only one phone. When I asked about my second phone they gave me the nonsense about I was supposed to add two phones to my cart to get one free. I sent a second message telling them that I had done that only to see the price double… We’ll see how they respond.

    $119.99 BOGOF or $79.99

@chryslerguy Thanks for the update. I hope you at least paid $79.99$ instead of 119.99… then at least you wouldn’t have to figure how to get the $40 price drop refunded on top of the BOGO dispute in your future.

I get almost zero response or even acknowledgement for anything I’ve ever posted in that thread, despite specifically and repeatedly requesting feedback about what they consider hot deals/prices, and it felt like the information was just getting buried. Therefore, I determined that it’s better to post what I believe to be deals hot enough to warrant a separate thread as a new thread so that everyone, including those that don’t follow the thread and potential new Tracfone users, can much more easily see and benefit from. However, I’m happy to also cross-post a link to the separate deal in the master thread as a courtesy if I thought they’d be any real interest in me doing so.

  • Just got my phone yesterday. Wow. What a great deal. As a connoisseur of sub-$100 android phones, this phone is really pretty good even without the full year of service.

    Thanks OP

Curious. I wonder if people are doing what I do most of the time, checking out the highlights, and not posting their thoughts about the matter. Most of the time it seems to be a dead thread.

  • I have had this phone for almost a year. I would buy another one, but the T-Mobile network is useless to me out in the rural nowheres that I live. The only negative I have found is the 16gb, mine is almost full and apps have trouble updating and it vibrated so hard it knocked itself off a counter and the screen cracked, but is still usable. The size is a big plus for me having upgraded from a rebel 2. It is awkward in a pocket, but it’s much more enjoyable to read stuff on a larger screen.

If you are alright with the T-Mobile network, this is a great deal, imho.

Yeah, I tried to help keep it going for awhile, but my efforts felt like they were in vain.

  • This seller is conducting absolute fraud. They will not honor the BOGO offer I paid for at the $119.99 price tag… They just keep telling me to return the item and wish for the offer to return in the future. Ebay offers different advise depending on who you talk to, then eventually transferred me to a Paypal recording that gives WRONG instructions on how to open a claim online. I called Paypal back and finally talked to a human who sent me a link to the claim process.

I have now created a claim inside Paypal and with my credit card card company. What a waste of time this problem is.

Anyone else fighting with these louses?

What resolution are you expecting? You’ll get different outcomes depending on the method, but you seem to be doing redundant ones simultaneously.

    • If I contact a seller and they refuse to honor the offer I purchased under, I immediately leave negative feedback stating as much (negative feedback is often enough to make them do right)
    • I would then contact eBay customer service like you did (but they failed to make the seller honor the B1G1 offer you purchased under by either encouraging the seller to send a 2nd phone or refund 1/2 your money). At that point I would have made them open a dispute themselves rather than passing the buck to PayPal.
    • If the eBay call/dispute failed, then I’d file a dispute with PayPal since they like lots of proof you’ve tried everything else first, and I’d be very clear about what resolution you want (although I don’t see them offering more than a full refund… just like the seller already offered you).
    • If the PayPal dispute is denied, I’d file a credit card dispute as a last option since they REALLY want proof you’ve done everything possible to resolve things on your own. However. their resolution will be similar to PayPal in that they can’t/won’t make the seller send you another phone on their dime or otherwise honor the terms of the sale… if your dispute is approved, you’ll just get a full refund.

My point is that the first step was probably your only hope of getting the 2nd phone sent for free (especially after posting negative feedback if the seller refused)… maybe step 2/going through eBay customer service could have influenced the seller to honor the listing, but that didn’t work either. So I’m wondering what you’re hoping to get out of steps 3 and 4 that the seller isn’t already offering (i.e., a full refund)?

  • I expect what I paid for or a 50% refund without this massive waste of my time.

OK. That’s what the seller should have offered you, IMHO. eBay should have filed a dispute and issued a 50% refund (they have the item description!!!.. and the seller’s response acknowledging sending you only 1 phone). It shouldn’t have had had to go any further. If either PayPal or your credit card issue a 50% refund you’re set… if they both do it you’ll have another headache to deal with.

  • Yes, exactly, the only purpose of the credit card dispute is so I won’t have to pay in full until something is resolved.

I’ve been on ebay for over 20 years, only given out one negative… this will be #2. I’m glad most ebay sellers (1000’s of items purchased) are honest!

  • Do you have a screenshot of the original offering, or even does the title of the offering reflect the BOGO in your purchase history?

This is being offered directly from Tracfone. I hope you receive postive outcome.

If you click on “Orders” on the top right of any screen, you’ll see your purchase history (also accessible from “My eBay”). Click on the name of any (recently) ordered product. This takes you to the product’s current listing page. If the listing is still open and unchanged or has ended with no changes since you ordered, this is the product listing exactly as it appeared when you placed your order. If the listing was changed in some way before closing or is still open but modified in some way, you’ll see white banner at the top that says something like “The listing below has been updated by the seller, but you can see the item you purchased.” Click "item you purchased,” to access the exact product listing/contract you purchased under. The moment I think I have a problem with an order, I always pull up this purchase agreement page and screenshot or print it.

  • Be advised that this seller is a real scumbag, I finally received 50% back from Paypal for not getting what I paid for. My credit card company followed up, somehow they had changed my claim to an unauthorized charge, but I explained again what had happened and they closed my claim to my satisfaction.

Shame on eBay, I posted a negative feedback and it has not shown up. Apparently they coddle their sellers?.. My feedback should not be muted, it is the only way to warn other buyers about bad sellers conducting absolute FRAUD.

This experience has been such an aggravating waste of my time… makes me want to rethink buying on eBay… I have walked away from one large purchase already in favor of local businesses.

Thanks for the update @chryslerguy. It’s sad that eBay is suppressing negative feedback but at least you only ended up paying what you expected to for the 1 phone you received. I think they kept making frequent changes to the offer and forgot to/was in the process of modifying the discount in the cart at the precise moment you ordered. It wouldn’t have hurt Tracfone to make a one time concession and credit you 50% off once the confusion was explained and your product page at the time of the order was reviewed.
