I was going to delete this as a repost because yesterday @Tuskers posted:
Elle

http://cdn.mercurymagazines.com/121-12197614/index.html?However, the links are slightly different so they appear to be different offers, so I think this thread should remain as is.

@fivetalents Can you tell exactly when something has been posted? Mine was posted first, so shouldn’t have been deleted even if it was the same.

For some reason, your post was still in my unread list, so I thought it was newer, my apologies. The time stamps are hidden, but I’ll be sure to double check them going forward when the issue of reposts come up.
My concern was this thread not be deleted because it’s not a repost (IMHO), but might easily be taken as one at a quick glance.

If the community cannot see the time stamp on threads, it makes it hard for us to know What is a repost to report it.
-
If you look to the right of any poster’s name you can see when that message was posted in minutes, hours, or days ago. if you hover over that with your cursor, you can see that actual date and time it was posted. That is all the mods have access too as well. I agree that the time and date stamp always being visible would be much more helpful so I’ll bring it up to @dangeRuss. Hopefully it is a feature than can be easily toggled to the desired format.

BTW, I just noticed that if you use search to see if a thread is a repost, the oldest/first thread will be lower on the list. You can also see the “_____ ago” for both close together on the same search screen (instead of having the threads open in different windows), making it easier to hover over them to see the actual time stamps. I hope that makes sense.

A (very) belated thought @MrsGuin: a fool proof/easier way to identify which of two identical deals is a repost is to look at the topic number in the web address. Every time a new thread is created, they are assigned a number/thread count in the order that they are created. The original post will have the lower thread number (to the left of “topic”) in the web address. The repost will have a higher thread number because it was posted after the first one. HTH
