Zojirushi NP-HCC10XH Induction Heating System Rice Cooker and Warmer, 1 L $201.48 @Amazon

1L for $201.48
Lowest price ever by about $15.1.8L also available for $266.62, but higher than the lowest price by about $30.
-
good one. made in japan
-
I definitely trust you’re opinion this @Krazy9Katz!
-
@fivetalents thank you, thank you
-
I have one of these slightly different model and they are pretty great. Keep in mind that it does take over an hour to cook rice (unless you use the quick setting).
-
@dangeruss yes but worth the wait. better with few ice cubes when you cook if it’s sticky rice.

If you’re making sushi, it makes the perfect sushi rice.
I was right, I have the older model of the 1.8L one that I got for $200 at the end of 2014 (used from amazon warehouse deals).
It’s been great, but now the nonstick somehow got scratched, and it’s $80 for a new pot. Thinking of just getting this instead.
-
@dangeruss ahaha. i have this exact same 10-cup one. bought on dec.19th 2014 for $253.98. my inner pan is still in great condition and i use this a lot. do you rinse rice in it? that would scratch the coating. i rinse rice in a plastic bowl and put it in the inner pot.
-
@dangeruss Wanna sell me your old one if you decide to go with the new one? Lowers your oop for the new one!

Lol, how much are you offering? We may just keep it and use the pot from this one. We did have an older version go bad after a while, so it may make sense to just keep the electronics too until it dies.
-
@dangeruss well I just thought if it was going to go in the trash I’ve wanted Zojirushi but can’t justify spending the money since I use my current rice pot maybe twice a year. I cook sticky rice on stove top since I never figured out correct proportions to cook in rice pot. Make sticky rice every few years so never figured it out.
eta: does the fingertip thing for measuring water work the same in Zojirushi?

The pot has measuring lines for different types of rice, but when cooking something like mixed rice, the fingertip method works well too.

It always did with my Zojirushi.
-
@fivetalents “did”? Did yours die?
-
@my4mainecoons Yes. I loved it. I used it A LOT. I made all types of rice in it (white, sticky/sushi, brown, wild, jasmine, etc.).
-
@fivetalents sorry to hear of your loss but you just saved me $200
I’ll have $70 in Kohls Cash to spend and was considering rice pot vs. pressure cooker/Instant Pot. Instant pot is looking better unless something comes up where I can cash out the KC.
-
I have the instant pot too (6 qt. Duo 7 in 1). Love it but haven’t made rice in it yet. BTW, the Zojirushi I had was a lower end model (about $100) and was analog… it didn’t have all of the bells and whistles like the one in the OP.
-
@fivetalents One is supposed to be able to make all sorts of stuff in Instant Pot… I don’t really cook. For the past few months I’ve been eating mostly Nong Shim
-
@my4mainecoons ohh which nongshim? i had neoguri today (yesterday already) we have shin ramen cup and kimch noodle in bag now.
-
@krazy9katz I buy the cases of black and shin ramen in packages. Cups & bowls give you less, lol. I have a camel alert for them and pay for them w/ Amazon gc I earn doing taste testing. I add tofu or egg, edamame, corn and shittakes. Just tried KimChi from BigLots where it was $0.90 for a bowl. That was a splurge, lol. The BIg Lots deal is to have 3 transactions to earn a $5 Reward (store credit) so I’m usually buying single serve corn flakes for $0.19 one at a time.
-
@my4mainecoons oh you add goodies to the noodles. so you cook. i usually microwave bag ones for 90 secs with boiling water. yea not cup i meant bowl. not big enough for a meal but good for snack. or add regular cheapo ramen noodles after i’m done with neoguri noodles. i’m not supposed to drink all the soup so add lil more hot water and micro! got some kimchi ones in bag to try at walmart and i like those too.
-
This looks like a good deal. If you’re going to splash out on a rice cooker you may also want to add pressure cooking to the specs list. It’ll cost an extra $100+ but it might be worth it to you for faster cooking times and more consistent cooking, especially for brown rice. Example:
-
And if you don’t want to spend so much, this one is available as well for $127.75

I love that you think microwaving ramen & tossing in tofu/veggies is cooking.
If I have a plastic bowl ramen I dump the contents into one of my soup bowls.
I put water for the ramen into the plastic bowl, swish it around then dump onto the ramen.
Clean plastic bowl can then go in the recycling bin.
-
@my4mainecoons usually when i don’t want to cook, i “cook” those noodles. like tonight. so no pots and no fire.
-
so, why pay so much for this one vs. other brand
or get an instant or some sort
-
Happy first post @happygirl128! (see what I did there?) I know you joined weeks ago, but I just wanted to welcome you aboard now that you’re officially posting.
