I’ve had this software for over a year and personally love it. great way to save videos and music from youtube and other video sites online. Easy to use and the quality is pretty darn good. NOT a screen recorder, downloads the actual video/sound from the source.

interesting, I downloaded it back in April 23 also on a Windows PC, had no ‘warning box’ pop up. I can’t speak to what you are seeing but obviously do what you’re comfortable with. The software works very well and consistently.

I’d be curious to know what alternatives work just as well (given you didn’t name a single one). That was never my experience, many either had limits or trial periods and/or a very user unfriendly/cumbersome interface.

@mistercheap I use 4K Video Downloader which is free. I did get VCapDL as well just as a backup. In doing some testing 4K Video Download is faster than VCapDL (at least on some Youtube videos that I tested it on.)

Well I gave it a go despite the Windows warning and so far it hasn’t stole all my data that I know of
And it did what I wanted it to do, which was download a video from a shady website, whereas I couldn’t get it to work with chrome browser extensions. It was super slow, but it did work. Thanks for posting.

Yes. I would use something like this to download TV shows or movies and then add them to Plex so I can watch them on my tv whenever I want without needing to go to the original website.

Thanks.Yes, the video downloaded from say youtube, is indeed free of ads youtube makes you watch, it is simply the file that was uploaded to yt to begin with. If ads were part of the original upload (say an original broadcast of the tv show with the original ads included, you will get the ads on your download)
Yes, you can watch the videos off line (no wifi) since they are on your harddrive or on your phone/tablet, etc.
It is a good way to create a music collection of songs you like as MP3 files. Some people create a playlist and send it to their phone and play it over bluetooth in their car. there are 1000’s upon 1000’s of tracks on youtube (LP or 45 versions, plus a lot of rare live performances)

No, downloads pretty much everything, no copyright issues. there are some rare instances where videos are coded to be ‘undownloadable’ but that is typical done by the content creator sharing it and not youtube.

it doesn’t work on streaming shows to my knowledge, as that’s not downloadable as an MP4 file. However, you should look into inexpensive DVR services to record streaming shows from your tv set. There are many tv show episodes and movies free on YouTube however.

how big of a screen do you have? there really is something to be said for watching shows and movies on a 40-60" Television.

https://www.any-video-converter.com/en8/for_video_free/It all depends on what you want to download. Will not successfully download DRM protected files, but neither will VCap.
I’ve used the ANVSoft tools for years and they have worked well.
Here’s another that I’ve used from time to time:

@mistercheap The last thing that I sat down to watch was the 2nd season of the Mandalorian. I just haven’t had time. Mostly I follow current events and those are short. I just listen if something is in English. I watch Ukrainian YouTube & Telegram videos on mobile devices because it’s easier to translate on mobile. I got the Disney+ & Hulu BF deal but have yet to watch anything. Recently I was thinking that it would be fun to listen to music while running the snowblower.😊. So this would let me do that, right?

Yes, download songs to your drive then put them on your device (ie phone) to listen to. can transfer the files by bluetooth or usb from computer to device.

Just a helpful hint,
If you are d/l full length TV shows or movies to watch, they are pretty big file sizes.
If you have a cloud storage set up, you can upload them there after or transfer to a flash drive to free up space on your main hard drive if you are running out of space.

This is one of the better ones - https://watchseries.mx/home. You can actually download pretty high res videos from the Filemoon server, but it didn’t have all the episodes I was looking for. I found them in lower res on a different site, but I was able to use this program to download them in higher res from watchseries so it met my needs perfectly!

Looks like it didn’t come with free updates. Kind of annoying, but it still works and was free so I can’t complain too much.
