I’m putting together a shorter one lane test track for a project to show how the weight distribution on a Pinewood Derby car can effect the times it generates. Does anyone have any simple ideas on how to get somewhat accurate timings for the runs? Most of the ideas I’ve seen online are for 4 lane tracks/etc. I don’t really need anything that complicated.
I found a decent idea here
https://www.abc-pinewood-derby.com/android-timer.php
They are using an audio editor and making a distinctive noise at the start and when the car crosses the finish line.
Then finding the time for the noises in the recording and determining the run-time for the car from that.
That’s why you pay me the big bucks.

Seems to be coming from Autozone.
I used VNC to pull the audio out of the raw file.
I used Audacity to do some noise reduction on the audio.
I used Shotcut to edit the actual videos and add the Audio back into files.
Then I used DVDStyler to create the actual .iso files to burn.
I remember liking the National Lampoon parody a lot.

I know most hotels have a sign-on page now for their wi-fi. Not sure how that all works.

I saw an article on that program the other day. It’s towards a beginning job in IT.
“The launchpad to a career in IT. This program is designed to take beginner learners to job readiness in eight to 12 months.”
https://www.aarp.org/retirement/the-aarp-healthcare-costs-calculator/
using that. making a few assumptions. Estimated health care costs if they die around 78. They are going to need over $500,000 for just health care costs. yeah, I agree $1 million isn’t going too far.
Yep, I ran it again. I must have read it wrong before. It’s only saying they need around $409K for healthcare costs.
The situation we are talking about doesn’t sound like someone who is trying to manipulate their income so they can pass their costs on to society. It’s more a discussion of income required to retire early. So we aren’t using Medicaid, it’s only counting Medicare covering some costs. Most of those costs probably aren’t going to be apparent to them till they get older.
