RE: Tips and tricks from an eBay seller (edit: will update original post till we get a wiki)
@christmas you remind me of the guy i bought my rolex from (had a great holiday season selling the bags/hats/shoes and spoiled myself). found a watch guy on ebay, decided to deal direct on escrow.com. he sold me a great watch, i still wear it. pre-owned (his name was on the title) but unworn (all tags/stickers). msrp today is 12k, i got it for less than half that.
not sure how he got his stuff, i never asked. i’m guessing he went to switzerland and picked them up himself.

RE: Tips and tricks from an eBay seller (edit: will update original post till we get a wiki)
@bobbybore when ebay began, it was like a comics/collectibles show, where everyone was both a buyer and seller. now it’s more like a shopping center where there are established sellers and most others are shoppers.
i love ebay though, made some decent cash that one year i was a seller (sold bags/purses, hats, shoes). and have found some serious treasures as a buyer.

@bobbybore sellers can only leave positive feedback now?.. that’s not fair. if it was like that both ways then in time, everyone would have 100% high feedback.
many moons ago (2003-2004) i was an ebay seller. back then some people just mailed cash or money orders. it was a different marketplace. but paypal usually favored the buyer (i won at least once or twice as a seller).
now i’m just a buyer on ebay. ebay was my first business, i guess i have a soft spot for garage operations. kinda my way of giving back.

RE: Best Prepaid Card?
@sarahb i had an amex business card way back, and there was an option to set the limit (as low as $1 lol) on additional cards (i issued one for an employee). maybe your current bank has something similar.

RE: Best Prepaid Card?
prepaid visa debit? available at any supermarket, where the gift cards are located. you can refill them too.

RE: FREE $10 off $10+ Using CVS Curbside Pickup (Select Areas) New users
also, cvs store branded products are usually better than their name brand counterparts. my $20 cvs electric toothbrush is more powerful than the $100 oral-b and compatible with the same brush heads

RE: redpocket
@redmed you’re a little off with the details, but whatever, looks like you’re on top of things

RE: Welcome FatWallet Refugees
@frugalfreak the entire site’s slowed to a crawl, remember when friendster blew up?
-
classifieds section?
you know, the usual… for sale, want to buy, job listings

RE: FatWallet closing: Final Day Monday 10/9
@frugalfreak i have been online since ~93 (dial up bbs) and have never actually sat through counting down a site closing. especially the elite dial-ups, one day the modem just stops answering.

@ctcarl also try giant bottles of palmolive dish soap

RE: redpocket
@ctcarl google hangouts actually worked when i was in europe too. made free calls back to america (over wifi). pretty nice backup plan, best price in town. and i have it set to ring both my mobile and ipad for incoming calls.

RE: redpocket
@ctcarl damn! tello doesn’t like my vertu … their paygo is the best i’ve seen
at this point i have a $3/minimum-month t-mobile paygo (10c per text/minute, no data) that i almost never use. i’m always home and i use google hangouts via ipad for free. essentially i pay $3/month just to have a mobile line open.

RE: **Resolved** 2mb photo limit
@honkinggoose yeah it’s plenty. i was mainly thinking that the file size limit (it didn’t auto resize when i used it) creates work for users, and for a brand new site, you wanna make things easy. barely fit that steak in after the cropping!

RE: redpocket
@miserly where is this $90/yr plan? i don’t see it on the website. i have ~$35 left on my t-mobile sim and about to jump ship
-
RE: best flip phone plan for luddite
@miserly never even heard of redpocket until now, the $10/month 500 plan looks pretty good! where is the $90/yr plan?
i’m currently on t-mobile prepaid $3/month minimum 10c per minute or text, no data. got ~$35 left in there

RE: The GM costco event is back again this year
i’m telling you guys… the deals are in used cars. like hd here, you just have to do some homework. 100k miles? barely broken in by today’s standards. this is not your dad’s oldsmobile.

RE: Tips and tricks from an eBay seller (edit: will update original post till we get a wiki)
@christmas could be a tough sell if it’s a new account with no feedback. i’ve used escrow.com before, pretty straightforward and wasn’t too expensive. perhaps sell it wholesale to another ebay seller. or try calling pawn stars.
now i’m curious, what do you have? i’m low on gold coins.

**Resolved** 2mb photo limit
perhaps the mods will consider bumping up the limit. a photo from my 3 year old ipad air2 (8mp camera) weighs in at 2.3mb.
i don’t know how to code this, another option would be automatic resizing.

RE: Best Safe Way To Pay Google Play
what about those prepaid visa cards at the supermarket?
another approach is to have a good relationship with your bank so that even if “they” try to jack you, the bank will probably side with you. i have a fairly large account with e*trade and if anything they are more careful than me. i’m always getting called to confirm charges, and if it’s an international charge it’s often denied and i have to call to tell them to let it through.
