In past years, I believe the best deals on TurboTax Deluxe were around 12/26 or between 12/26-12/31 at either/both Amazon and Costco. I don’t know if this year will be the same.

Just received an email from Navy Federal CU that on January 9, they will be offering a Special 15 Month Certificate at 5.00% APY. I contacted NFCU and they stated that the minimum deposit is $50 and maximum is $250,000 for the above mentioned CD. The Special CD offer may run through April and the CSR stated that it will be an add-on CD.

For those that can’t qualify for NFCU 15mo CD, UNIFY Financial Credit Union now offers a 15 mo Certificate Special at 5.00% APY w/$500 minimum deposit and they allow one additional deposit within 30 days of opening. Easy membership requirement (thru Friends of Hobbs, a non-profit state park, and according to the CU’s online application, “We pay your contribution to Friends of Hobbs.”)

Ally 11mo No-Penalty CDs now at 3.85% APY.

Good deal. And for anyone with Costco membership, they carry Season wild sardines in extra virgin olive oil in a 6-pack which is on sale for $3.30 off in-store (brings it to $7.69) in Georgia. YMMV depending on location.

For anyone interested, Ally now has a 13-month Select CD at 4.60% APY available thru 2/8/23 with no minimum to open.

XCEL Federal Credit Union has an 18 month promo CD at 5.12% APY w/$500 minimum deposit, new money, no stated balance cap.

Also available as a traditional or Roth IRA.

Easy membership requirement by joining Ocean Running Club ($15 fee).

The 18 month promo CD is not listed on XCEL’s online application. The CSR stated that existing members can open the CD using XCEL’s online banking platform or by calling 973.275.9235. Those joining XCEL must establish their membership and then contact XCEL to open the promo CD.

Update: NFCU 15mo add-on Special CD at 5.00% APY offer will now expire March 5th (originally supposed to expire 4/30). If you’re interested in this CD and qualify for same, I would suggest you open it asap. $50 min/$250K max deposit, limit one per member, additional deposits at any time.

For those who didn’t get in on the Ally 11mo no-penalty CDs when they were at 4.75% APY (they are now at 4.35% APY), CIT Bank offers a 11mo no-penalty CD at 4.80% APY (but unlike Ally, the minimum to open this CD is 1K).

Easy membership requirement - individuals who join the Fort Rucker/Wiregrass Chapter of the Association of United States Army (AUSA)(https://www.ausawiregrass.org/) qualify for All In membership. AUSA offers a free 2-year Basic Membership to “concerned citizens.”

A Share Savings account ($5 minimum) is required to establish an All In membership, along with a $1 one-time membership fee.

Sandia Area Fed Credit Union (overall health grade of “A” at depositAccounts.com) now offers a 13-Month Share Certificate Special at 6.00% APY with a $500 minimum opening deposit. A one-time penalty-free withdrawal of up to 50% of total balance is allowed and any withdrawal made subsequent to the one penalty-free withdrawal is subject to a penalty of 90 days of interest on the amount being withdrawn.

Easy membership requirement (Sandia Area has a rather subjective requirement: “Persons who subscribe to the permaculture ethics, consisting of the following principles: care of the earth, care of people, and reinvesting surplus for the benefit of earth and people.”) and there are no membership enrollment fees, just the $5 share deposit to get your membership established.

edit 1/03/24 The KS StateBank 11mo CD Special dropped to 5% - no longer a decent deal**

KS StateBank has an 11-month CD Special at 5.65% APY w/ $25k minimum opening deposit which can be opened online nationwide. Partial withdrawals are allowed, but any early withdrawal made within six months of account opening will reduce the principal.

NASA Federal Credit Union’s January rates for their 9mo and 15mo Special Certificates remained the same as they offered in December: 5.70% APY on the 9mo and 5.45% APY on the 15mo. 10K minimum each, new money. They also have a 49mo Certificate at 4.75% APY if you wish to lock up your money for a longer period of time. NASA FCU will provide a one-year complimentary affiliated membership in the National Space Society (NSS) which entitles you full membership at the credit union.

Ally 11mo No-Penalty CD decreased again from 4.50% APY to 4.35% APY (same rate as their Savings Account, which leads me to believe that that is about to decrease as well…)
