It’s sad. I have memories of going into Sears to play the Atari gaming consoles since my parents wouldn’t spare one. Woolworth was another store I missed, spent a lot of $ on plastic models and HO train stuff. Sears did a brief comeback in the 90s with expansion of clothing but the current CEO, another hedge-fund billionaire basically is killing it. In contrast, Target is holding to its own against the tide of online merchants.

They keep sending me $10 free point to spend on clothing and shoes but I can’t find anything in the nearly empty store.
Are their prices universal to all their stores?
The cashier said they no longer accept credit card for GC. I heard this before and it came and gone but she also said that the register won’t even take it for GC. I suspect this is just something to make me go away but can anyone confirm?
I’ll try a different store later in the week but this is annoying.
I was there last week to use my free $10 Sears Freecash. Not a single person in the Tool department. It’s sad looking and they have old poster out for “hiring events”. It’s a slow slow death.
Something of interest, I got a $5 off $15 email coupon later because I donated to something at the register for $1. When I used that coupon, I donated again, and… again, I just got another $5 off $15 coupon. So net after the $1 donation net me $4 discount on $15.
I think the last one of these was better, something like $10 off $20. I always got old electronic around but need to think what would cost me just over $30 @ Staples.
