The OD rewards can only used for OD merchandise? It doesn’t discount sales the price directly?

But… yes, can be used on pretty much any merchandise, print, shipping, and postage stamps. Can’t be used for gift cards. If something is on sale, you’ll get the sale price, you can also use any OD coupons to lower prices and pay w rewards. Hope that answers you.
