Wow. Closing a bunch more stores. Always appreciate your updates, Q-shopper.

@mrvietnam we get our RX there so I REALLY keep an eye on those lists.
We do not have a CVS or Wags in our City.

My store started ‘closing’ sales today, but what a joke.
A professional liquidation company is doing it and most items are a crappy 10% off to start. I mean, what a joke and a waste of gas to even check it out today.
Compare this to the 50-75% a whole bunch of stuff from the get go at the two prior closing sales in my area back in October. No liquidation company involved then.
-
@mistercheap So rather than transferring products to other locations they’re using a liquidator. That’s not a good sign.
Liquidators bring in junk to sell.

I think that’s the issue now, running out of locations where to transfer stuff.

@my4mainecoons more than likely it is part of the BK requirements.
I truly doubt the liquidation company can bring any none RA stock in to sell.

I truly doubt the liquidation company can bring any none RA stock in to sell. That’s what happened at KMart then Sears. I’d shopped those stores enough to know their merchandise. When they had their “final closeout” sales there were sizeable quantities of items they’d never sold for supposedly great discounts. It was junk. e.g. Sears had Craftsman tools. Those were gone and instead there were cheap tool sets.
-
@my4mainecoons Sears sold junk tools also.

I was at the store today, I noticed no ‘new’ merchandise being sold. Pretty much what was on the shelves when I was there 3 days ago. and at 10% off reg prices on most of the ‘good stuff’, it won’t be moving that fast anyway.

how many stores does RA have left, cant be too many?
-
@ohsheet in 2023 they had 2,271.
-
I do not see the docket/approval for these stores:
The bankrupt drugstore chain on April 26 filed a notice in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey seeking to close seven additional stores located in the Midwest and East. The notice identified stores located in Bridgeport and Northford, Conn.; Port Monmouth and Williamstown, N.J.; Norfolk and Virginia Beach, Va.; and Dayton, Ohio.
-
@ohsheet The additional store closures bring the amount of shuttered locations to 345 of the original 2,100 stores that were open in the U.S. when the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

What does this mean? “Rite Aid plans to exit from bankruptcy in about a month, funded by $2.55 billion in financing provided by its lenders, according to Reuters.”

I’d take that as good news, means the chain will continue on with a smaller footprint of overall stores.
-
@mistercheap they are closing every store in Michigan and Ohio.
