IMPORTANT HEADS UP! Rite Aid - Action May Be Required

I just did a Rite Aid run, not happy about a major glitch that can penalize you in the end.

    1. When you enter your phone number or scan you card, a screen comes up with your total $ amount of rewards available - PLENTI + Bonus Cash. So if you have $40 in BC and $26.77 in PLENTI it will say you have $66.77 available.

    2. as before you enter your pin if you want to use ‘rewards’ as opposed to plenti points

    3. I spent about 11. xx in a few items figuring whatever Bonus Cash could be used + whatever plenti or small oop.

    4. I owed nothing, but was shocked to see that all my rewards were pulled from PLENTI and NONE from Bonus Cash. Such that points that won’t expire at Rite Aid til September (more on that later) are being applied BEFORE Bonus Cash that was expiring in 2 weeks. NOT GOOD, because in this scenario, your PLENTI points that you may wish to use for Gasoline are being spent down w/o any choice at RA AND even worse, you potentially could LOSE Bonus cash on short expiry because it is being sent to the back of the redemption line against PLENTI POINTS.

    5. I will be calling RA shortly to beach and moan at them and see what they tell me (and I will update later).
You may have to call rite aid to see how you can get PP recredited and BC taken off if you’d rather use PP on something like gasoline. Also you’ll need to call if you have short expiring BC that could be lost due to PP being deducted over BC, especially if you have a high balance to work down on PP’s.

    OTHER IMPORTANT INFO:

According to a written memo my SM had any Plenti Points that you EARNED at Rite Aid that haven’t been used by 7/10/18 (think that’s the date PLENTI ENDS) will be converted to Bonus Cash (guessing with a 60 day window to use), this is a good thing so you aren’t wasting them on stuff or losing low point balances.

Also, the new system is deducting Bonus Cash by the penny (like PLENTI), I did have both PP and BC deducted on one order I did were I only had $4.xx in PP and the rest $3.xx came off as BC with the remainder balance on the receipt.

    UPDATE from first post:

    Called RA, here’s the deal.

Customers with PLENTI POINTS AND BC are indeed having PPOINTS pulled from their accounts BEFORE Bonus Cash. If using Plenti Points over BC results in you LOSING Bonus Cash due to an expiration issue, just call Rite Aid customer service and they will issue you a gift card for the amount of forfeited Bonus Cash (after the expire date).

As an example, let’s say you have $40 in plenti points and $20 in BC expiring 5/10. Between now and 5/10 you spend $26 at Rite Aid, all pulled from PLENTI. ($14 remaining PP, $0BC on 5/11 due to never using), you call RA and they will issue you a $20 GC to make up for the expired BC.

It is very important you keep up with how much BC you have and when it expires if this affects you. Also, if you’d rather use your PLENTI at Exxon/Mobil for instance, do it sooner than later so the PPoints get off your account and won’t be used at Rite Aid first.

  • thanks for the heads up!! But I have used my 2 cards with about 300.00 in PP that I have drawn down to almost 10.00. Dont shop there too much as they have no deals anymore, but might check this week the BC on the toilet and paper products. Thanks

  • correction: the post for the 20.00 back BC starts 4/29.

About them making remaining Plenti points Bonus Cash is good news for me because I earned about 99% of all my Plenti points ar Rite Aid, so in essence I will be getting a two month extension to use them. I like they are pulling them from Plenti for me as I have about $210 of Plenti points on 2 different Wellness cards (total about $420).

Thanks for the post, MC. Very informative. Especially the news about the memo.

How do you know when it expires as now they lump all BC together in a wallet?

No more deals? Why don’t you monetize some of your Rite Aid points and get 16 free 3 oz Nabisco snack bags/cups to boot? See the weekly thread for more info.

the PP and BC info is listed separate on the receipt. (new BC’s earned show expiration) The c/s person at RA on the phone told me I have $11 expiring on 5/15.

i wish there was a place you could wither see online or on the receipt that listed the amounts and the various expiration dates. They keep that information hidden now, maybe on purpose. I earned some BC today and no longer does it say the validity dates on the receipt like it used to.

Wish there were some more free after rebate pillows at Macy’s to use Plenti points on before Macy’s cuts ties with Plenti. I would use some of my Plenti points for gas at Exxon Mobil but in my parts their gas is not competitively priced. Exxon Mobil gas in these parts is about 50 cents or more per gallon than Costco or Sam’s Club gas.
