    @ctgolfer

    Where does it say the date? I know they just had a Wellness Day last month.

    I like this screening better than Sam’s Club (which also offers a quarterly free screening(, In the Walmart screening they let you know your bad cholesterol leverl (LDL), while at Sam’s Club to find that out costs $18.

    This is really a nice service Walmart/Sam’s Club give you. I only get a blood test once a year, but it is good to know how I am doing in between doctor ordered blood tests.

  • May i ask what A1c is? Thanks!

    A1c

    It is a test of how diabetic you’ve been recently…

    A1C measures the average glucose (blood sugar) in your blood for the past 2 to 3 months. It is the percentage of your hemoglobin (oxygen carrying blood proteins) that is coated with sugar. The higher the value, the higher the risk of diabetic complications:

    • below 5.7% = normal
    • 5.7% to 6.4% = danger zone/prediabetes
    • over 6.4% = diabetic

  • Thanks! I knew blood sugar test, but didn’t know it’s called a1c. 🙂

    There are two common ‘blood sugar’ tests, glucose level is what your level is at that moment (typically given after a 12 hour fast in AM blood work). if your glucose level is over a certain range you can be considered pre diabetic or diabetic. (don’t have the ranges to post sorry).

    A1C is a test given primarily to those diagnosed with diabetes, versus the general non-diabetic population. as noted it is an average of blood sugar over a 60-90 day period.
