Skiplagged or hidden city fare? Or could I get on/off at layover city?

I am looking at RT Jfk-Helsinki-Jfk. Direct on Finnair about 450€. If I buy the very same ticket Jfk-Stockholm-Jfk, it comes to about 250€. The kicker is, it is the same flight from here to Helsinki, then a plane change and another leg to Stockholm. Coming back again an hour flight from Stockholm to Helsinki and the same Finnair flight back to the US.
I could possibly get off in Helsinki but there is no way I could get on in Helsinki, right?
It drives me crazy to pay extra $200+ for NOT continuing to Stockholm!!!

Late reply: I would say it would be impossible to get on at Helsinki. Airlines hate this, plus since you’re not ticketed for a flight from Helsinki, I doubt your boarding pass will work since you weren’t on the first leg of your journey back. Also it’s possible your boarding pass won’t work going through passport control in Helsinki. Then there’s traveling all the way to Europe without checked luggage.
There was an article in the news this past week about a German airline suing a passenger for this.
I’ve been to Europe about 15 times since 2008. I do a lot of research on Expedia, and the like, before hitting the submit/pay button. Skiplagged stuff isn’t what I do. It’s enough work as it is. I just pay and move on.
One more thing: Between Stockholm and Helsinki is overnight ferry service. Several years ago I took Viking Line between the two cities. Off season fares are dirt cheap. I think I didn’t even spent €40 for a round trip (two nights). This included a private cabin. It’s more now, but still inexpensive.

United has been trying to punish/fine skilagging passengers for a while. I believe that the news report this week was about Lufthansa’s $2,000 suit against a skiplagging passenger.
