If you log into your Amazon account and click the “Prime free trial” link in the OP, and are eligible for the trial, you will see “Start your 30-day Prime free trial today… Prime offers the best of shopping and entertainment. After your free trial, Prime is just $12.99/month. Cancel anytime.” If that account is not eligible you will see “Join Amazon Prime… start an Amazon Prime membership for $12.99/month to experience the benefits that millions of Prime members enjoy.”

So how did this work for existing prime members last year?
I will test and report back if given instructions.

Thanks. It’s an hour round trip for me without traffic, so I was hoping someone else with Prime lived closer and would be able to give it a go.

It’s just like all of the other Amazon deals that they ‘officially’ say or imply excludes those who’ve used/done it before… but still works for ‘everyone’ anyway. Like when they have Prime Now codes during Black Friday for new Prime Now users but EVERY YEAR the code works for people who’ve ordered from Prime Now before… or when they have a $3 or $5 credit for 1st time users of their web browser extension but most of the time previous users get the credit too if they install it again.

Just make sure you know which phone number is registered on your account and/or have your Prime Now barcode pulled up on your phone (in either the Whole Foods app or the Amazon shopping app) to present at checkout.

You may actually have a better chance of getting it to work as a Prime member who has never used their Prime membership to get discounts inside of a B&M Whole Foods store: prior to launch, the buzz was that the discount was to get Prime members to checkout their Whole Foods discounts due to the recent price cuts on hundreds of items… not a discount for new Prime members.

  • Purchase was over $20. Scanned barcode. Nothing happened.

Thanks for the data point. Did you ask why the $10 promo didn’t get credited? FWIW, I’d have the promo website ready on my phone in case it prompts them to manually apply the $10 off. Did you just join Prime for this promo or were you already a member? Also, if you were already a Prime member, have you ever used your barcode in store for one of their previous $10 off Promos? TIA.

That this is a new member promo is very clearly explained in the OP. Also explained is that Amazon often opens up such promos to existing members… and they very easily exclude existing members when they choose so it’s no error/loophole (in fact it was implied pre-launch that this was an upcoming discount for ALL Prime members to celebrate the new lower produce prices). It’s unfortunate that it didn’t work for you, but thanks for the additional info.
