Thanks for posting the list, briarycliffs. Be vigilant about the terms of the bonus cards as some can be very restrictive about the dates for using them. I don’t remember which restaurant but it offered $50 bonus with $50 purchase. The bonus was actually 5 $10 cards usable for specific dates (2 weeks running consecutively - Jan 1-14, Jan 15-29, etc.). Good deal if you plan to go there frequently, not good if you don’t.

@briarycliffs and @msrazzle not only the dates using them, but some chains, like Ruby Tuesday and Mac Grill consider the bonus cards ‘coupons’ and you canNOT use a coupon and the bonus card on the same bill, which is a sham IMO.

Yes be berry berry carefuls, many of the bonus cards exclude any other offers, and as such are almost of no value, over a normal giftcard purchased at a discount, and unrestricted coupon, and loyalty offers.

@LORENW yes indeed AND you can only use ONE bonus card per check, so if you have 3 or 4, you have to go to that restaurant to eat 3-4 times in the short 30-60 day window they give you to use the bonus cards. The term ‘bonus’ is questionable given you have to put out so much more OOP to redeem them.

However, the coupon clearly states you can NOT use Dine Rewards if you use the emailed couponI use AARP discount in Outback, and later submit the receipt on the Dine Rewards app, so far that is still working
As always I buy Outback cards at about 30-35% discount, so it does pencil out well, with every 4th one being half price

Last year Red Robin gave you flat 20% off if you bought $250 or more in gift cards. This is a great deal if you visit RR often as there are no date limitations and can use with other coupons/deals. It wasn’t advertised but if you went to the gift page it was mentioned. The $5 bonus card they give is only good for certain time period and it’s at best 20% off so that’s what makes it such a good deal. Hopefully they’ll do it again this year.

Red Robin has deal where you get $5 bonus GC if buy $25 GC and $10 bonus GC if you buy $50 GC. The bonus gift cards are Valid from 1/1/18 to 2/28/18 and you can only use 1 per order and cannot be combined with any other offer.
A better deal is if you buy $250 in GC’s you get $50 off your order. This is the same 20% you’d get from above deals but no stupid restrictions on the bonus cards. You can get any denomination between $25-$200 so would need to get at least 2 cards in total. I did this last year but we haven’t been going to Red Robin as much so not sure will be doing again.

@fivetalents thanks. I didn’t get the BB offer. I get BB cards from Rite Aid and historically have used them to buy Mobil gas cards. Recently its been $8 wyb $50 or $16 wyb $100. I suppose I could treat myself and get just $75 worth of gas at 8% discount… hard for me to splurge like that

I had a hard time see what is bold and not bold in “darkly”. Changed it back to a white background for awhile to see if that helps. I don’t mind the suggestions, but do miss the wiki’s.

@briarycliffs I see gift card deals all the time… what qualifies as a “holiday GC bonus promo” suitable for this thread? For example, PPDG offer deals like buy a $50 GC, get a $10 bonus card throughout the year. I’m guessing if they released a new offer like that right now it doesn’t belong here because it’s not sold directly from the merchant (but through a 3rd party instead) or because it is offered throughout the year/not advertised as a holiday promo? What are the rules you want followed for adding to the list? It would help if you laid that out in the OP. I’d be willing to contribute if I knew what to look for.

@fivetalents I don’t think we have any set rules. I took the thread over at FW from another member who didn’t want to do it anymore. There was more posters then, but even so I did most of the wiki work but others would post about more regional places. I think it’s best the list only has merchants, not third party. I wonder if the anyone even cares about the smaller restaurants or not. I know that many of these national places now have mother’s/father’s day, graduation, and other holiday deals so I don’t know what constitutes “holiday GC bonus promo” either.

@fivetalents I see nothing wrong with including a bonus offer that may be offered at other times/or throughout the year in this thread. Since this is the peak gift card buying/giving season, it is still helpful to have the info culled in an all in one thread for people to peruse the options. I just think the ‘rules’ and limitations of some of these bonus offers s/b fully disclosed. Many of the $10 or $20 ‘bonus’ cards offered are NOT gift cards but simply a fancy coupon, valid for specific date ranges and can not be used with another coupon. Obviously a real gift card still allows you to use a coupon with it to stretch the dollar further.
Another way to look at it is, let’s say Outback is giving you a $20 bonus card with $100 in GC purchase. They often run $5 off 2 or even 10-15% off your meal with AARP and other offer. So if your dinner bill is $60 before tax and tip and a 15% off offer would have saved you $9, you can’t use it, you can only use the $20 bonus card. So it is only really worth $11 over what you could have saved if you were able to use the 15% off. That is why I stay away from these ‘bonus’ card offers for the most part, I think they are a bait and switch and if you don’t use them in the time frame specified they are worthless. Never the case with a true gift card which doesn’t expire.
