Outstanding price. Just got this model at Target for $259 and thought that was a great deal.

People have been asking Amazon to price match Walmart so they figured they might as well just lower their price. Now if someone would undercut both of their prices I might consider buying one.

Might be wrong, but I don’t think Amazon price matches.

You can get an extra 5% ($11.45) off by paying with Amazon Chase or Discover. Likewise, you could price match Target to Walmart if you have the Target Red credit card to get an extra 5% off.

Amazon doesn’t price match on a person by person basis, but ever since Walmart has stepped up their online game to compete directly with Amazon, Amazon does “automatically” lower their selling prices to “match” whatever sale prices Walmart has on the hottest items. As soon as Walmart’s prices goes back up, so does Amazon’s… I think that’s what @my4mainecoons was mentioning.

I got an Amazon Fire for $20 on Prime Day. Other than not doing iBotta its been fine. Could someone please explain why iPads are so much more expensive? Do they do that much more than any other tablet?

For casual users, a Fire is sufficient. With the iPads you pay for a much higher resolution screen and more powerful processor which helps with advanced video games and other power-hungry apps that I don’t think you use. Also, I don’t think iOS devices have had memory card slots for years, unlike most Android devices do, so you’d quickly fill up what the OS leaves free of that 32GB and your iPad would be extremely slow/unusable… but it’s OK if you don’t plan to download much to it.

@fivetalents OK, thanks. I don’t play video games, I don’t watch movies, I don’t download… I have a Surface Pro which I don’t use. I was using it as a tablet until I got the Fire, now I just use the Fire and I haven’t added any Apps to it. All I’ve done is remove stuff it came with.

You do have to manage your space, but with online storage, especially Google Drive, your files/pics/music are pretty much available as long as you have an internet connection. Now that I’ve had this iPad for almost two weeks, I will say that the screen resolution is a bit disappointing, but the speed is great!

@zerenia Thanks for pointing out another reason I don’t need an iPad-- my broadband download speed is 61mps
I could have the fastest device in the world but with my internet service it wouldn’t matter.

61mps
what’s mps?
if you meant 61Mb/s then it’s more then fast enough.
-
@dangeruss mbps I guess…It says its 0.61 megabits per second for download, 0.10 mbps upload.

Do you have something like 4G service? Or satellite?
-
@zerenia There’s faster service available but I’m too cheap to pay for it.
My service was a Hot Deal on FW ~2001. $13.99/mo for life.
Its gone up to $16.99/mo over the 17 years but I’m ok with that.
Occasionally I can’t download an update or upload something because of slow speed.
In that case I borrow my neighbor’s high speed service. I have his network password and can connect to his wifi if I move my laptop closer to his house.

@dangeruss I actually had a discussion on PW re: wireless extenders for the purpose of borrowing my neighbor’s signal. Can’t recall why we decided it wasn’t going to work. I’m pretty sure my neighbor doesn’t realize that I borrow his signal and I want to keep it that way.

Then how do you have his password?
-
@dangeruss A few years ago I wasn’t able to download W8 to W10 conversion so asked him if I could do it at his house. He declined to type in his PW but just said it to me. We watched football in his living room while software updated. So I have it for “special needs” but my wifi is fine for my needs 99.9% of the time. I can’t recall the last time I borrowed his signal.
