Car Rear ended need help in claim with Allstate
-
My car was rear ended by someone at the stop light. the damage wasn’t a lot but my bumper got scratch and tail light also broke. the other party had allstate insurance. they opened a claim with allstate. Allstate asked me to take picture of the damage with their app …some quick photo claim … and later sent me an estimate of $875.
whereas my local bodyshop which audi recommended gave me an estimate of $1700.
the adjuster not replacing the bumper and offering buff service which is offcourse not to my satisfaction. Changing the tail light itself will cost around $300 as per dealer.
How should i handle the situation with Allstate?
Also i have asked Allstate for diminished value claim for my car. i haven’t spoken to them yet in that regards.
Appreciate comments from fellow members who have dealt with Allstate in past in similar case.

Maybe make an appointment to have Allstate send adjuster to check out car at the shop you want to do the repair. Repairs are after higher then first estimate, referred to as ‘contingencies’.
-
Get an attorney. Your car will be repaired to your satisfaction and you’ll be compensated for any medical bills + pain and suffering.
You will not have to pay out of pocket for anything.
-
Did you have any medical bills? An attorney will also have to get compensated. Attorney will not likely be interested unless you are going to sue for pain & suffering.
Another method is to file the claim with your insurance company. You will be responsible for the deductible until your company collects from Allstate through subrogation.

Ugh, just responded to this exact post over at fragile deal. This is what I was worried would happen.

I confess to posting some things at both sites, but it’s hard to know how much overlap exists.

I don’t blame anyone for cross posting. I’m just sad that in order to get the best responses, you pretty much have to cross post. I’m sad we fractured into two forums.

I thought the consensus was that this forum specializes in OT and that one gets Finance.

It’s true that FD is heavier in the finance discussions and PW is heavier in OT and deals.
If there was a consensus, there wouldn’t be a Finance forum here or OT and deal forums there. I don’t find it a burden to check in at both places.
