Walgreens newbie: Can I earn Balance Rewards when I pay partially with Balance Rewards in the same transaction?

I am a relatively new Walgreens shopper. Does anyone know if I can earn Balance Rewards in the same transaction where I partially pay with Balance Rewards? I know you can at stores like Rite Aid, but I do not know if Walgreens allows it.

If my memory is correct, you will earn new rewards on ‘product quantity’ specific offers, like buy 3 Crest, get 5K points.
I don’t believe you’ll earn points based on any $ spend if the redemption impacts. ie, offer to earn 5K points wys $20, you buy $21 worth and pay with $10 in points.
I’m not as certain on product spend offers, like buy $15 in Pantene earn 5K points but I’d guess it’s like my example above.

Because paying with points is a ‘store discount’ it lowers your spend level. If the offer is spend $$ you won’t earn points on the amount you use points to pay for, can get tricky. If it is a buy XX items then you can spend and earn.
